Does anyone have much experience with 'THE' House of Comics?

Hey, just an update... I've spoken to the guys there. They assure me that they are going to make this right. While I'm pretty confident that they were trying to get one over on me, if they do send me what I bought, I'm happy. I have a case open with Amazon and I guess we'll see. They were very quick to get back to me - I almost feel badly that I jumped the gun. I'm sure that I'll be kicking myself in the near future, time will tell... I can't bring myself to get angry if they are trying to mend the screw job.

At this point it's totally on me as I am well informed... I really want to think the best of people which could be a personal failure.

Begin runaround #1...

Yep.

BTW they removed the yelp reviews :sorry:

My guess is that it filtered all the reviews from people who were not existing members with posted reviews. I'm surprised at how few people around here use Yelp.

Sorry to hear another victim, and possibly more have been taken by these scammers.

I have started an awareness blog and will be posting on Twitter. Please make sure to stop-by and comment on the blog any information you feel would help improve visibility to the awareness threads on these boards, the blog and any other online information that others can use to avoid being taken.

Why would you have that username? That seems dumb and weird.

Because on the offchance that you Google the username, you will get "Showing results for the house of comics" - it will autocorrect and show you results. Not sure if that is what was originally intended by the blog poster, but it's probably the best alternative in terms of search relevancy.

That makes perfect sense. I just wouldn't want to be associated with them in any way, even if it was for the purposes of shutting them down. Gross. :P

Yes, thank-you.

At the moment, these boards have the most organic incidents concerning these individuals activities. That is an ace in a search engine optimizers back pocket when attempting to position link results in search that expose their activities and the truth.

I mostly depend on Urbanspoon and Aroundme on the iPhone.

Sigh... Ok, for the sake of argument lets assume everything you have told us and showed us is 100% factual and that everything in the old threads is equally factual. At what point and more importantly why, would you think everything is going to turn out right? Based on the pictures you showed us they sent you a photocopied or printed replica cover with a different back and some interior pages stapled together with an industrial stapler that looks like a 3rd grader turning in a book report. Do you honestly think they made a mistake?? A mistake is oh, we sent him an 8.5 instead of the 9.0 lets fix it, not lets send him a pile of and not realize it is not an original vintage comic. I appreciate you wanting to believe the best in people but at what point does it defy logic. Remember that the best scammers are really good at making people believe things and stringing them along until the money is gone and I am speaking in general terms and not this particular case.

I am simply disappointed that none of my memes are featured on your blog. Some of those meme's took up valuable three minute intervals of my life.

I agree that the runaround has just begun. Hog you should demand an instant refund and in return tell them you'll destroy the crud they sent you and that you won't contact the police.

Anything else, you're just being foolish.

Oh, I gotcha - I was thinking you were talking about the Twitter username. I see you're talking about his Board username. I agree - I wouldn't want the name either, but perhaps he has some devious ulterior motive for it. Or perhaps he's one of us- one of the good guys pretending to be a bad guy in order to serve justice!

So their site is pretty great and they offer a lot at good prices. I just placed my first order through them and I was really excited. I ordered a IH 181 at a good price. I should have known it was too good to be true. I received a cobbled together IH 181 reprint that doesnt match the online picts. The cover looks like it was from the 1985 reprint - though it was glossy, it had the telltale black box around it, the back cover was from some silver age comic. The whole thing was stapled together. It was a bit of a mess.

Now in fairness, I wrote Thomas Neeley and haven't heard back yet so I'm hoping it was just a shipping error. He also included a GSX1 German reprint - I think because I was telling him I just picked up an orig GSX1.

I'm not criticising them at this point, just curious to hear other's experiences.

Wow....

I thought his was a joke after the last thread...

I don't think you understand the nature of the scam. They can't send you what you bought. They don't own a Hulk 181. There's a pretty good chance that they have never in their lives owned a Hulk 181. They simply get pictures of "real" comics off of the web, list it as their own, and then send you whatever crud is lying around in its place. The stuff you see lying around the house is just some garbage collection they picked up and threw about to make it look like they actually deal in comics. They don't.

Mr. Hog have you not learned anything here?

Ok it seems thehouseofcomics is straight garbage. Were those pictures of that trashed house with comics everywhere and a little bottle of prescription drugs really from thehouseofcomics???! I believe how bad they are but I figured those pics were jokes. Did they actually have those pics on their website at one point?
