I Love Sam Kieth.

Sam Kieth = Frazettas organic style meets Robert Crumb.

His work is best without color. The penwork is briliant.

I would definitely include Basil Wolverton (to a lesser extent) in that amalgamation.

Really interesting thread. :applause: Viewing Keith is like some weird blend of greats Jack Davis and Frazetta.

I see alot of Jack Davis 'cartooning' in the image on the left. Then the one on the right screams Frazetta.

Keith seems a "master of forms" whether he's cartooning or fantasy illustrating, exaggerating both.

The more I look at his work, the more I see Dale Keown (Pitt) in his style

I've always thought that.

I think both characters were created around the same time in 1993.

I used to buy MCP just for his covers, and always wondered why he didn't have his own comic. I guess it's because he wasn't "house style." I was so glad when The Maxx came out, and it definitely did not disappoint. Been a fan of anything he does ever since then.

The re-release/re-mastering of The Maxx (with lots of new stuff added!) is the best news from San Diego so far! :cloud9:

Did they say how it would be rereleased? Meaning will this be GNs (my preference) or will they do floppies?

Monthly issues with new covers, new coloring and some extras.

Looks good. I'll still buy the floppies. I've always wanted to read the full series but either the TPBs or the late floppies are tough and pricey.

You should definitely read it, as it's a fantastic comic book. :headbang:

Even though I already have the original issues (was buying them monthly - or sometimes bimonthly - back then), I'm still gonna get the new editions, not just for for the extra stuff, but mostly because I wanna support Sam Kieth.

I found this at my LCS this past week.

It was the only t-shirt they had for sale in the whole place.

It's old store stock and I haven't opened it, but it feature the cover art to MCP 94 which Doc Joe owns.

I missed an opportunity to buy the cover for Darker Image as well as the recent pages on HA. It will probably be another decade or two before any published Maxx OA comes to market.

I was fortunate in picking this up though which eases my pain.
