Amazing Fraud #15 ?

I asked for a picture with proof he had the book in hand, like the book with today's newspaper date, or the book with a peice of paper with his eBay handle on it.

His response was there's a picture of the book in hand.

So I asked which person he was in the photo. lol

Who is he going to claim to be, Wally or Joey?

Why ask for proof of the book when he cowardly hid in the description that he is selling a photo copy..

eBay is a complete joke if they don't pull this.. What a P.O.S. thing to do (the seller) :sumo:

Now I have an eBay message of him lying. He says its his picture of the item, contradicting his hidden message that its a reprint not shown.

He'll beat the not as described with EBay and Paypal since they will not want to take the loss. Can you show a photo of a couch, but in the fine print say you're actually buying a pillow. I don't see him ultimately winning when the person brings the dispute up to the next level. I ask why would he be wasting everyone's time unless he's going to grab and run.

I think what he is doing is actually a crime in NY under their deceptive advertising laws. You can't show one thing and then bury in fine print it's actually something else. I'm sure other states have the same laws.

I've flagged a ton of auctions. EBay does NOTHING!!!! I watch them after the auction waiting for the negative feedback and EBay makes it look like it's the best place to buy when the cancel the auction and remove all traces of the scam. They pull the auction, the photos, and the feedback. If you weren't looking at it, you would never know that someone was scamming and was scammed.

Let's see if EBay is handed the information on a silver platter if they actually cancel it. I had to explain it three time to different people. Each was more lost than the first. A one point I had to say "hit ctrl-f" and point them to it. This is supposed to be a fraud specialist.

Let's do this math. EBay hires a dunce for $8 an hour. They have to pay out $8000 in a fraud. That's 6-months pay. Paypal has sharp people on board when you file a claim. EBay just doesn't seem to get it.

My rep got it and understood my concerns. Said it will be down before the auction closes. Tell you more through PM if you want.

You have to call them. Like I said, they were a little lost, but I walked them through it. Buzzetta also called.

Paypal may or may not put the 21 day hold on it. I was roped into a second chance offer scam where the seller had a ton of nice books legit. He just decided to take as much money and run. I have 10k tied up right now in credit card limbo as PP is reviewing an item not received with another case. I'll get the money back, but I'm on the hook for 15 days interest on it.

This isn't even fraud. It's deceptive and the seller is going to play with words to stick the buyer.

When you report you get this statement

We'll review your report carefully and take appropriate action.

That isn't what happens.

Why do they allow these scams to persist?

Because they don't have much financial incentive to get rid of them. They would spend more money getting rid of them than they lose in allowing them to continue to operate. To be fair, most of their task in getting rid of scammers is next to impossible since most sellers and auctions that get reported fall into the "maybe they're scamming, maybe they aren't" category. We here know that it's a scam because we know Wally and Joey and we've seen the original picture, but eBay doesn't know that unless Wally sends them that original picture and tells them the seller stole the scan and edited the CGC label out. Editing the label out means you can't really tell from the pic if it's a reprint or not. (shrug)

Why does it require comic collectors calling them? What is the point of the reporting function if they don't do anything until you call to follow up. Especially when they admonish you against contacting them once you have filed the report.

You don't need to contact us about your report again.
