What about Spidey 258?

Reed tells Spidey that the black costume is actually an alien symbiote and then removes and contains it. Kind of a pre-Venom origin of sorts.

I don't know what to make of that picture, but, um, yeah, I like it. :shy:

Stretching it a little too far.

OT: are you going to attempt the massive task of making an independent version of this list?

:wishluck:

And it will be massive. Especially when you think of all the semi-keys, keys, and potential keys that are out there.

I started, but then realized just how big that list could be. It's one thing to put together a list of major keys or the obvious big ones, but once you go down the rabbit hole, you might never come back.

You know, here's what I'll do. Give me a few days to get a longer list together, and then we'll just build it together. See where it goes. Might be more fun that way anyway.

I think that's the way to do it. One by one. Chip away at it. This might be the wrong place, but oh well.

TMNT 1 (duh)

TMNT 3 ( that ny version)

Gobbley goop.. Forgot what it's called

Albedo 0 (yellow limited to 50)

Albedo 2

Adventurers 1 (limited)

Fish police 1

Macross 1

The Realm 4 (Deadworld)

Some of those weak TMNT ripoffs

... Half a million more...

Bring back the pressmans! Gold, (and silver) second print goodness. Very scarce in high grade. Extremely popular, and sought after. The works. Hear hear!

I've been thinking about this same thing lately. When I first started tabulating the lists, I wanted to include the best stories instead of just a list of key and semi-key issues. I wanted to capture the essence of the copper age, regardless of value.

The more I look at the lists, however, I'm realizing that skipping variants or sought after second prints is doing the list a disservice. If these second prints are popular and important, they should be included. I'm sure there's easily 10 issues or so on this Marvel List that could easily be cut to make way for the Pressmans.

Then again, that would just make it a list of key and semi-key issues, and what's the point of that? :tonofbricks:

It's certainly a tough list to make. It can stray in different directions, really easy. In this case, i figured they belonged, as well as some of the other 2nd print/variant type books on a "must own" list.

It's a great list. I wouldn't take any off. I tend to collect some of the different printings of books that have become popular over the last few years, which is why I pushed for pressman love. I think the Venom book came out after '91, so that's probably out. The Hulk 377 3rd print came out later, but the original 377 came out in '91. So you could probably grandfather the 3rd printing onto the list. The JC penny reprints are great to add, but there are so many of them. Same with the So Much Fun books. I mentioned Thundercats 1. Don't laugh. It was a $10 book back in the mid 80's. It made people take notice of the Star books.

I won't make fun of Thundercats. I actually had that and a few other Star books on the list prior to my first post, but took off the Star books. That was me first inching toward making it only Marvel 616 books, but I couldn't take off things like 'Nam or GI Joe.

Makes me think that instead of having a cap at 100 issues, I should just have a running ranking and make it as long as necessary. :ohnoez:
