For those who care, I have seen/held the TTA 13 and it's a very solid and nice book. I personally believe it's a solid VG (and may press up).

The interior is very nice and the pages exhibit no brittleness whatsoever.

Certainly would make a fine addition for any collector.

Figured the TTA13 would not last an hour. That has got to be the hardest book I have ever tried to find and the copy sold here was such a nice one, made me wish i had not just paid for mine. The WMD 6 is a great alternative. I got that copy for someone who cant afford or find a TTA13.

It's no different than any issue from that time period. Ff1 and hulk 1 are the toughest hero marvels because they are the first ones. This pre dates those books by a year or two. In the 1960s marvel timeline that's an eternity.

Late 50s books in general from any publisher are extremely tough. This book being 1960 is basically a late 50s book.

If you made, oh, TTA 11 or 15 a movie book tomorrow people would be saying the same things. From a 1960 pre hero perspective it's nothing special. From a marvel hero collectors perspective its omfg the rarez

I spent months looking on Ebay /Metropolis/ Mycomicsshop/ComicLink etc and there was almost none . Theres always a few copies of FF1 and Hulk 1 and yeah they are rarer then most . Just took a look at Ebay theres a few copies of FF1 and Hulk 1 but zero TTA 13. Its just so rare. I have seen I think 2 copies on Ebay the last 2 months. And they go as fast as they get put up.

Oh I absolutely agree but he was asking why and I was trying to illustrate that it's no different than looking for say TOS 13 instead of TTA 13

Thats why I overpaid for a real low grade copy. If the movie is a hit it will be so expensive (and it already is) to get a copy and if the movies a dude then oh well. Why i think these copies of Where Monsters Dwell 6 should still not be for sale. Considering how hard this book is to find its the next best thing along with Hulk Annual 5 which is Groots 1st Bronze age app and 2nd app overall .

This thread RULES (worship)

And just wait until there are action figures of Groot. This book is - POW - off to the MOON. The Guardians movie is really going to surprise people IMO and the kids are going to eat it up. This generation's Star Wars?

The TTA 13 is a tough book to find, but like was said earlier all the pre hero books are tough. I have been lucky enough to have 3 of them within the last year. I kept the best one for myself. I'm really surprised the Groot reprints haven't all sold. It's not a super easy book to get, and it's perfect if you don't want to spend hundreds on a real TTA 13. If they don't sell I'll just put them back till the movie comes out, that's actually probably the smartest thing to do anyway. Hopefully I can find some more TTA 13's in the near future.

In GPA, there is a huge difference in prices between TTA 13 and others from the same period (TTA 6-12,14-20 for example); that is why I asked

That's a demand response not a supply difference. You make any one of these books "hot" to the hero collectors and you'll get the same result

I hate the fact that I sold my TTA #13 last year.

Peace,

Chip

I hate the fact that I passed on a cgc 8.5 for 1400 six months ago doh!

I was prioritizing for better pre hero books (this cover is a dud frankly compared to others from this time period - haven't read the story though) and so I passed. Still don't think much of the book but the flip would have paid for some good ones ;)
