I didn't realize he was the actor from Watchmen.

Batman vs. Superman: Matthew Goode has met with Warners?

First of all, Goode has a history with Warners/DC and director Zack Snyder, having portrayed the superhero-turned-billionaire tycoon Ozymandias in 2009's 'Watchmen,' the big screen adaptation of the revered graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.

Afterwards, Goode was also a contender for both the role of Clark Kent/Superman in 'Man of Steel,' as well as being one among the many in contention for the role of Batman before Ben Affleck was cast in 2013.

Rumour: Ben Affleck sacked as Batman

I call BS on this. The studio even advised Affleck there was going to be a big uproar over his selection. So they were ready for any temporary backlash from comic fans.

And there are a number of articles floating around about his further involvement in the DC Universe.

Jesse Eisenberg Cast As Lex Luthor in ‘Superman/Batman,’ Jeremy Irons Set as Alfred

This guy as Luthor? Really?

Warner Bros. Pictures has cast Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons will play Alfred in the upcoming Superman/Batman film.

The castings, announced Friday, come two weeks after Warner pushed production on the untitled “Superman-Batman” movie to the second quarter of this year and set a release date of May 6, 2016 as the studio departed from a July, 2015 slot.

The film is in pre-production with Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman and Zack Snyder directing.

‘Batman-Superman” will also reunite “Man of Steel” stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane, and also stars Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince.

The screenplay will be written by David S. Goyer, from a story co-created by Goyer and Snyder. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan and Wesley Coller serving as exec producers.

“Lex Luthor is often considered the most notorious of Superman’s rivals, his unsavory reputation preceding him since 1940,” Snyder said. “What’s great about Lex is that he exists beyond the confines of the stereotypical nefarious villain. He’s a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman. Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions.”

Irons is replacing Michael Caine, who portrayed in all three Christian Bale “Batman” films.

“As everyone knows, Alfred is Bruce Wayne’s most trusted friend, ally and mentor, a noble guardian and father figure,” Snyder said. “He is an absolutely critical element in the intricate infrastructure that allows Bruce Wayne to transform himself into Batman. It is an honor to have such an amazingly seasoned and gifted actor as Jeremy taking on the important role of the man who mentors and guides the guarded and nearly impervious façade that encapsulates Bruce Wayne.”

Eisenberg next appears in “The Double” and “Night Moves.” Irons recently appeared in the television miniseries “The Hollow Crown” as Henry IV.

Interesting. Their names never even came up that I saw.

Alfred sounds like he is going to have a rougher bedside manner with this choice. But that isn't a bad thing.

Kinda like Beware the Batman

Jeremy Irons is terrific casting for Alfred

Eisenberg is one that no one would have predicted but hopefully they chose the right man for the job

Well, they definitely went down a surprise path that I'm actually thinking this may not be bad choices.

Eisenberg has delivered some fantastic performances.

Eisenberg as Lex Luthor!!!?????

This movie has shown me the absolute worst casting decisions I can comprehend. I cannot sit idly by anymore. I'm almost at the point where I hope this move bombs, which is so very sad because of the potential. The actors are all good, (Gadot is ok) but the Batman, Luthor, and WW roles are head scratchers. Hopefully they will pull it off, but as of now, I'm officially indifferent at best. No longer rooting for this movie.

Bryan Cranston would have been THE BEST Lex Luthor, hands down. Eisenberg does not look nor act like a super villian, just a d-bag as Zuckerberg.

Before seeing a Rosenbaum Luthor I'd never have thought that would have been a wise casting choice....that said....I can see a bald Eisenberg working it.

Wouldn't have been my 1st choice but you gotta say it's been one surprise after another with the cast. A for effort with fooling the fanboys to DC/WB for sure. I would have bust a nut however if Cranston got the job.....I can see him filling out Luthor's shoes easily.
