B-Smooth
Anyone else? Maybe I should add a AF 15 to the pot. We'd find out in 10 minutes what the mystery book is. djzombi

Carl Elvis
Ok, I believe this book is actually an error that occurred when Marvel attempted to switch from a art filled box for Direct Market vs UPC box for newstand, to a UPC format for both Direct & Newsstand. Proof? The recent issues prior to #302 all had art boxes for the direct market, then suddenly #302 is the first to have a UPC box for both Direct & Newsstand (photos below). bababooey
I think that 302 with the blank UPC came in a toy, the area around the issue number is wrong for a regular copy. I can't say for sure but I'm sure it's a reprint of some kind...I'll search here & post my findings shortly. BTW - The entire Marvel line went from UPC box "art" to Direct Edition UPC from April to May of 1993. April May
bababooey
I found the earlier parts of this thread (that I hadn't read ) but according to the GCD it does appear to be a variant of some kind. I still say it was included with an action figure, board or video game. ..but no one's found it so
Carl Elvis
Seems like the action figure/video game theory has been thoroughly explored to no success. I found the original cover art on comic art fans and I noticed that the UPC box has the Direct Market text but the price box has the Newsstand information which may have added to the confusion when printing occurred. Carl Elvis
I contacted the seller of the recent 302 "logo variant" I won on eBay to see what they knew about the origin. The seller stated they had purchased a lot of about 100 books from a collector. I did notice almost all those other books were newsstands - so maybe the "logo variants" where utimately sold there. Carl Elvis
Here's a photo of the indicia. Nothing jumped out at me but maybe someone else may see something that could help explain the issue.

That's all. The first person who can prove it will get this copy of Conan 77 .35 variant , (probably VG+) AND a VF/NM copy of GIJoe 21 mailed for zilch. Just need the info., not the book, unless you want to sell. Thanks! And here's the Conan. It's not much, but it's free. And you can't beat free. GiJoe 21. Would be easy NM without tiny chip on spine, but who cares?! It's free. hi. I was wondering if anyone came across where this comic was generated from? I was wondering how this came out and how many copies are out there?? I recently bought about 2000 comics and found this exact copy.
Rene Rosa
Let me be the one to say I think I have the answer for you folks. This is most likely a Pressman edition variant. They made variants for some board games/pen and paper stuff around this time period with these numbers of issues. For more info you can see them here: http://www.recalledcomics.com/X-MenPressman.php PeterPark

The pressmans all have some sort of color ink variation, and their issue #'s have been identified. No relation to the 302 that I'm aware of. valiantman
All of the Pressman books have advertisements for Pressman products on the back cover. Does #302?
Rene Rosa
It's the only description I've found of CGC graded versions of this book: https://www.terapeak.com/worth/uncanny-x-men-302-pressman-no-price-variant-cbcs-9-6-white-pages-rare-comic/331737929025/

No... other than the front cover it is exactly like the regular edition. I went through it with the regular direct sale edition side by side and everything was identical. Most likely this is a printing error.

Ive found the newsstand error X-Men 423 twice, but not the actual error book itself. Ive also found the Avengers 77 newsstand price variant once. That actual price variants of both I've only known 2 people who have copies currently. They exist and are findable, but the odds are ridiculous. fastballspecial
Sorry if I confused yes there are 3 versions. I have only found the Newsstand issues that has a price difference in UPC only. The cover with the price difference and still has the $.25 only circle is the true rare book. I think I have seen maybe 6 copies of each of those and I haven't seen one in person yet, but I know 2 boardies that have copies.
