BTW, to clarify: I also think Brock has a not-so-great character, and he may have been offensive to people (often unwillingly), but one thing is one person's character, which you cannot change by mere willpower in a single day, and another is his effective honesty. You can’t measure the latter with precision in any given case, and if you could, it would still be a form of judgement on the person.

If one limits himself to criticize what he deems bad, you would be correct. It’s what happens beyond that which is not good. :)

Are we talking about the same guy who was contemplating taking the tatooz from an FF #252 to replace the missing ones from an ASM #238?

People here always crow about their honesty and integrity, but actions speak louder than words.

Also he listed a copy of Hulk #340 on eBay. The comic was a 9.6, he mistakenly listed it as a 9.8 in the header. But the picture and write up were clear it was a 9.6 Someone bought it then after winning asked him to cancel the auction because they thought it was a 9.8. He got his panties in a bunch and was attempting force the buyer to still buy it. They he began a thread in CG explaining this, gave the eBay users name so we all could block this person who made a mistake. Stated that he was blocking them and was thinking about doing a NPB thing on eBay. The comic sold for way over GPA for a 9.6 and he appeared to want to capitalize on the buyers mistake.

So for anyone who cares that appears to be very dishonest. You could have one million transactions with said seller, it is what it is.

So true....facts that's can't be disputed.

Since it is being discussed here is a pm exchange I had with someone back in January.

I never brought it up, because I didn't think there was really enough evidence, but read and judge for yourself.

He either had a lot of bad luck with non paying bidders (which I'm guessing he would have started a thread about), was too lazy to update his site, or he was trying to manipulate gpa sales for books he owned.

Most books I'm sure have actually sold by now so finding them on his site probably won't work but they were active at some point.

This Fantastic Four #1 popped up on my saved searches -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fantastic-Four-1-CGC-4-5-OW-W-PAGE-Universal-First-appear-FF-Stan-Lee-sig-L-K-/221350771485?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276

I noticed it was Columbia Comics. Curious to see what he sells on Ebay I searched his closed items and noticed a few were sold at surprisingly strong prices. I then looked at his site and noticed he still had some listed.

Is he trying to artificially inflate GPA?

Same X-Men 4 sold for $699.99 twice on Ebay -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/X-Men-4-CGC-5-0-W-PAGES-Universal-First-Quicksilver-Scarlet-Witch-Avengers-2-/321287360752?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item4ace3810f0

but he still has it for sale on his site for $625 -

ASM #121 9.2 sold for $999.99

And he still has it for sale on his site for $750 -

GSX #1 8.5 sold for $1099.99 here -

And still listed for $925 here -

http://www.columbiacomics.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=49_52&products_id=21

The TOD10 7.5 is another example.

Cliffnotes, PM is fine BTW.

There never is, it is always a :takeit: via PM.

I have always found it curious that questionable sellers seem to have a lot of books sold via pm with no acknowledgment in the thread by a buyer. I was never for sure if the sellers just put sold via pm to make it look like they are selling stuff or if it is just "cool book" buyers too ashamed to do it in the thread itself.

it legitimately happens...and it can cause confusion when you post a :takeit: for someone.

I'm sure there's nefarious reasons also.

Some of you people should just get it over with and go work for the NSA/CIA/FBI

I dunno... Sometimes there really are crazy buyers out there.

I have a couple of stories.

One person who bought one item who I never ever met, spoke to or anything else other than, "Item will be shipped on Monday and I hope you like it." or whatever I wrote at the time. This person wound up sending me Christmas cards for a few years straight which I thought was kind of odd. It was harmless and nice but still odd.

I am taking a walk through my eBay feedback and it is like a walk down memory lane. I keep notes or the emails on the nutjobs as all ebay messages go to my email address.

One person gave me a negative because I would not drop off the item to his home. At the time I was working every day of the week and going to school. He lived a few towns over and I am not comfortable to this day going to a strangers home late at night to drop off a Star Wars toy. He said that I overcharged him for shipping. It was at cost. When asked why I remember that he said something like, any charge for shipping would have been too much since he only lived a few towns away. There is nothing I would change about getting that negative even today.

Other negatives I clearly earned.

Poor packing on one of the first few things I sold on eBay. Okay... I got it and I learned. These days I do not think anyone who has received something from me can say it was poorly packed. Sometimes you learn the hard way. That one I clearly earned. A couple of other times I scratch my head. I cannot help it if a sealed CD became dislodged in the sealed case and got scratched. But sometimes the buyers need to contact the sellers and offer them a chance to make it right.

Here is one I CLEARLY earned. I bid on a comic book for a friend who at the time was not using eBay. It was a $400 item. For whatever reasons the friend backed out and decided after it was a done deal that he did not want to go through with the purchase. I was left holding the bag so the seller rightfully left me a negative for not paying. Looking back I should have paid the $400 and resold it the book myself at a later date. For what it is worth I never let anyone use my eBay account to buy again after that and today if I do a favor and sell something for someone it has to be in my physical possession.

I was really hoping this thread would go a different way.

But what has just been posted above this post is some messed up stuff.

I'm curious as to what you believe to be the messed up stuff.

Time for the eBay detectives to put their hats on...

My favorite is when shilling is discovered...

Some people are quicker to take down books off their personal website than others when it comes to sales on eBay. I have noticed Metropolis as well as mycomicshop take some time in adjusting inventory for eBay sales. Recently I picked up a Weird Fantasy 11 off of MCS on eBay during one of eBay's rewards days. I double checked the price on MCS to see the difference a day or two later and it was still there. Metropolis has done it too.

Sometimes it happens.

On to the other thing though:

I just set a GPA high that doubles the price paid for the book on the last sale. Buyer completed the purchase and I sent the book out the other morning. If you want to know it was Spectacular Spider-man 64 that I picked up on the boards a couple of weeks ago. I intended on keeping it but after I picked up the Action 27 I had to let a couple of things go. Last sale according to GPA was $51. I paid about $75 on the boards and I sold it on eBay for $105 with free shipping. GPA reflects the last two sales as $51 and $105 as it obviously does not count the board sale.

GPA is a useful tool in the belt but is not always the right tool every time.

You do have at least 2 accounts, right? A buyer's account and a seller's account? If not, create another account for buying. Ebay does allow this. I'm sure you can imagine how much possible trouble having two separate accounts (with different IDs) can save you in the long run.

At this point... or at least to me, it's easier with just one account. I like simplicity with certain things.

Hey George (GSims),

What exactly are you accusing me of? I'm asking you point blank..right here in this thread.

With your long extensive post...are you accusing me of shilling? Are you accusing me of GPA manipulation?

Cut through the bull and state your accusation!

Yep. I think his post was pretty clear. Are you one of those people who need it spelled out. Instead of coming in and explaining what was pretty clear in in his post. You come in asking for him to post it to yo face.
