Why was this a 4.5?

I thought the same thing until I read the comments. The sketch was not witnessed, just Stan Lee's signature. I was curious what the grade would be like for something like this.

Why was this a 4.5?

As you can see from the label, only the Stan Lee sig was witnessed by CGC. The Segovia sketch wasn't witnessed so it was treated as a defect and knocked the grade down to 4.5.

got this raw and personalised directly from Stephen for a charity purpose, then decided to slab and signed by Stan later , thus the art by Stephen lowered the grade. :)

Not a sketch cover but I wanted to show this off

 

Secret Wars #1 HOMAGE - Age of X version by Steve Kurth

Steve was one of the artists on Age of X, and just finished a Age of X back up story for X-Men #300
