Bradbury was such an incredible writer.  The Super Science Stories is his first professionally published story.  The first Weird Tales is his first publication in that title (a letter) and the second is his first story in the title.

"There Will Come Soft Rains" is the first one I remember reading and it's still haunting to this day.

Had two new arrivals this weekend. The 1954 version of War of the Worlds with two artists credited for the cover, Al Nozaki and Hal Pereira. The second is a novel I have not yet read with Robert Schutlz credited for he cover art. Sands of Mars is also a 1954 edition, and one of Clarke's earliest efforts in writing a full novel. I really like these Pocket books covers of this period with their distinctive grey edge.

Yep, I purchased a whole group of issues and found that little surprise.  I also got the other Schomburg Fantastic covers from the same year but they're pretty rough looking.

But the cover art on this one is very unusual for him, even considering the Xela work.

Nice, Pat!  I hadn't seen that Galaxy cover before.  The Fantastic is one of the others I found but it's in tough shape.

Sweet bunch of books Damonwad! I have some of the Thompson Lions but not that one. They're tough to put together these days with what they go for in nice shape. A big regret was selling a very nice copy of Killer Inside Me and a pristine copy of Sins of the Fathers, which is probably the rarest of all Thompson books, even though it's not a 1st Ed. I'll likely never get them in that condition again unless a fortuitous circumstance comes around because I just have a mental block paying many hundreds of dollars for books that used to go for $50 - $100 I know... I need to get over the past (and my inner cheapskate ) I've posted my copy of Farm Girl, she's a honey

Victor Olson painted the "maybe even better" flip side cover

This one has everything - a tough Lionel White movie tie-in Signet with a wild Maguire bondage cover that is unfaded and pretty sharp.

glad to hear Gardner is being enjoyed - the Perry Mason books are glorious reads - fast-moving and full of GA charm. His other two series: the DA books and (under pseudo) the Lam-&-Cool books offer the same top-notch entertainment

re D-41: the Barton  cov is better - one of my super-faves... here's the Barton Ace I got recently
