Finally bagged a nice copy of the 1st Edition (PBO) of "Reefer Club" by Luke Roberts. Uni-Books No. 49, 1953 with the iconic Warren King cover.

One of the toughest of the US drug books, it's compounded by being a "Uni-corn" with any kind of complete cover due to the paper thin covers. It has a nice chip off the back but still the nicest looking copy I've seen for sale in 7 years of looking.

This completes the USA "Reefer Trifecta", along with "Reefer Girl" and the 2nd (Canadian actually) Edition under the Stallion imprint, re-using the censored version of the cover from "Basement Gang" :whee:

Seeing as how this is a theme here, I thought I'd share this here too.  I just saw this on TMC between movies.  It's about 10 min, "the Terrible Truth!" Hysterical!

New one, I just love this, a Uni-Book Giant, Warren King wraparound cover.  It feels a little glossier than it looks

my favorite bit is the topless island girl peeking out from the spine (not to mention the volcano and junk above her). This one has a seam where the spine wasn't glued down quite flat.  I'm guessing that's a common thing, as the other copy I've seen has a ton of these wrinkles

Looks like the HC was 1950 (with a boring dustjacket).  A year later, we get

Now to figure out what sort of bag this will fit in...

Lost all my eBay watching this morning trying to get rid of annoying offers.  Not reversible and no the first time I've done it, damn your busted and clunky programming, eBay.  Have transferred most of my pb hunt to a physical list but still had a bunch of pbs on there that I'll likely not remember (and pulps).  I do remember the auctions coming up this week I was excited about - I hope...

One of King's more detailed covers.  The Uni and Royal Giants are totally under-appreciated. Many great firsts and cover arts.

I have a soft spot for the westerns ... they often have powerful covers by the likes of Norm Saunders and many more. They're usually a little more reasonable than the most popular genres like Hard boiled, Horror, and Sci-Fi. Some of the most mesmerizing color schemes are featured on their wraps. GOD BLESS ...

Desert Showdown is my favorite as far as the painting.

Westerns can have great design in the title graphics - there's lots of variety and color:

Simple but distinctive yet totally bold:

to almost cartoonish.  You can get away with all sorts of colors and outlandishness and it doesn't look out of place at all with the color mix you have on the western covers:

The actual painting on that one is in almost a noir style you sometimes see on the late 40s early 50s westerns.

This one comes highly recommended by my pal, H.P. and I'm trying to find a nice edition with larger print that I can read. Love the Steele Savage cover, which is a wraparound by the way. GOD BLESS ...

Steele Savage is such a unique artist, as well as name. A little like a Hannes Bok for the 70's generations :headbang:

I doubt that Mr. Savage slept through the Bok era.  GOD BLESS ...
