My rant about casting Doctor Strange

On casting Dr. Strange

 

Just my 2 cents. Not that Hollywood will listen to me or anything.

 

Would love to hear what other folks here think. I know there was a thread started the other day when the Johnny Depp rumors went around, and now with the Jon Hamm blurbs popping up I thought we'd begin a speculation thread until there's actual confirmed news...

But seriously...I'd love to see a creative, ambitious young filmmaker go nouveau camp with a character like Dr. Strange...the Marvel universe as Buckaroo Banzai...hip, goofy, fun.

Wow. Jack Huston - I hadn't thought about him. Might be a little young, but I think he would be a great choice. He seems to be the sort of "on the cusp" actor that Marvel Studios seems to favor too. Great post.

You mention casting is likely to be soon. I'd be surprised if we hear anything before next winter.

 

I'm expecting the film to be announced at SDCC in July for 2016, but we just don't know yet. Casting some time after that.

Unless his agent and lawyers ran away with all his money. The guy has way too much class and dignity to 'ho his talent on a comic book movie.

I see Dr Strange as a rather serious character, to me he isn't "hip, goofy, fun." so I wouldn't want to see that type of treatment.
