:gossip: not all horror is GOTHIC horror :gossip:

Gothic Horror combines horror and romanticism...

Typical tropes in Gothic Horror:

The virginal maiden

the tyrant/villain

the hero (sometimes doesn't appear until the very end)

the clergy/religious represented

Gothic setting like a castle, monastery, cathedral etc.

Next time I wanna post in a thread like this I will send you the image first in a PM to see if you approve. :screwy:lol

sorry... thought I was providing information to clarify what the subgenre typically included... post away!

These are neat!

Are they original paintings you own, any more info on these?

Not OA, I decided to crop the cover from book scans for visual impact :)

These are actually from a Portuguese series called “Zakarella” that started in 1976.

Zakarella obviously draws the name from Vampirella, or Barbarella, is a Portuguese woman bound to Satan, fighting for her freedom.

Here is the whole collection. It stopped at 28 because the Bank of Portugal refused to have the Warren Copyrights paid in USD .

I just found out myself about these books and catalogued # 7.

This is what is inside, 4 stories:

"Hop Frog" - Creepy 11 by Archie Goodwin/Reed Crandal

"Werewolf" - Creepy 1 by Larry Ivie and Frank Frazetta;

Zakarella- Original Portuguese author and artist Ross Pynn/ Carlos Alberto

"The Graveyard is not Deserted" - Creepy 54 Don McGregor and Reed Crandall

From what I can gather, this is the format for all books. 3 random stories from Creepy Magazine + a Zakarella story.

Zakarella Stories are mainly a long text with 3-5 illustrations by Ross Pynn (Roussado Pinto) as a writer + Carlos Alberto as the artist.

All covers were drawn by Carlos Alberto apart from # 10.

WOW! Thanks for all the info. (worship)

I've never seen these before and think those covers are great. I like how they drift from horror to sci-fi. These just went on my list to find. (thumbs u
