Popular Post OtherEric
A couple books from Grit City Comic Show today. Getting the Vault means I finally have at least one issue of each New Trend title (counting Crypt of Terror/ Tales from the Crypt as one). The Panic #6 is actually a downgrade, but since my other copy is the Don & Maggie Thompson copy I've wanted a reader for this one. And who knows, maybe someday I'll get it sketched. grendelbo, Jayman, KirbyJack and 6 others
Popular Post Point Five
Did anyone else win an EC from ebay seller 'confettiproductions' a week or two ago? They put up a bunch of Weird Science and Weird Fantasy books as very reasonable BINs... the grading was all over the place and a couple that I really wanted were gone, but I was able to nab this beauty below as well as a Weird Fantasy #16. Both books have minor flaws sprinkled around, but white pages, white inside covers and really nice freshness to them. Not much better than a Woody cover! Carats, Comic-Fan and Point Five

An incredibly talented artist and designer. Although primarily known for his 1960’s rock posters, his UG comic art and Surfer Magazine art just doesn’t get much love. He is heavily influenced by popular American culture. This issue also featured some great work by Robert Williams as well. Also one of my favorites, along with Man From Utopia. Love Rick Griffin's artwork. OtherEric

Man from Utopia is more of a sketchbook rather than an actual comic but just awsome to study. I remember Rick at one of the earliest SDCC shows at the Convention Center. His booth was like a Hawaiian beach shack. He was sitting on a rug drawing. He had a number of originals for sale including a couple of pages I posted from Tales From the Tube. But he wanted hundreds of dollars for them. I had to settle for a small inked sketch and a couple of autographs… Jayman and MrBedrock
Popular Post Robot Man
Some of his amazing poster work from my misbegotten youth that I have saved all this time. The Hendrix flying eyeball is probably his best known. The purple Doors poster is a big favorite. Popular Post Robot Man
Just one more interesting piece. A super early 1962 issue of Surfing Magazine. Rick did the cover and a feature story. Any old SO CA surfers know it was a BIG no no to sneak into in incredible breaks at Camp Pendleton. If caught, you would lose your board and maybe face trespassing charges. Or shot with rock salt that went right through your wet suit. I went in on a boat once. Anchor and paddle to the break. What a rush it was! Rick worked for Surfer when he was around 15. Jayman, Turnando, OtherEric and 2 others
