Paypal made some changes???

9 posts in this topic

I just noticed this.

As I was sending money via paypal (for comics) using Credit Card I had a confirmation page for changing funds from my checking account to the Credit Card saying that my CC bank might be in touch with me to charge me a 3% fee for using a card for this transaction.

Has anyone seen this before???

:P

Never seen that. Usually it says no fees for me if its for goods/services and 3% CC fee IF I'm doing Personal. Wonder if they are going to start passing along CC fees on goods/services now too?

They already pass a 3% fee to the seller.

PP just changed a ton of their webpages. Possibly they added/changed the option of allowing the buyer to pay the 3% fee in lieu of the seller,

I was just reading this Washington Times article about feds targeting "high risk" Paypal merchants.

Not sure it's related other than if Paypal looses revenue due to some 'crack down', they'll probably be looking to make it up elsewhere.

"...noted that the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. has directed banks to apply extra scrutiny to “high risk” businesses — such as gun sellers, pornography shops and drug paraphernalia stores — that use payment processors such as PayPal for credit card transactions."

PayPal doesn't allow gunshops, pornography shops nor drug paraphernalia stores to use the service so I don't see how this has any impact on them. If you don't believe that - look at all the stories of those types of shops complaining about PayPal 'stealing' their money. If a gunshop opens a PayPal account and starts using it, PayPal (may) will notice after a time and will close the account and hold all the money for up to six months while they wait for any chargebacks to resolve themselves. The shop will eventually get their money back but it takes a long time. PayPal does this because the terms of service specifically prohibits those types of sales.

As far as I know, I haven't heard that PayPal will begin charging for person to person transactions. The caveat to that is if you use a credit card (as stated above), the normal fees are charged.

Was the transaction you were trying to make between you and someone in a different country?
