I'm a little kinder. I'd say the book presents as a 5.5 without the tear. As is, I'd go with a 4.0. Does it matter where the tear is? Sure it's a moderate to major tear but it is on the periphery of the book.

I think you nailed the presentation grade!

 

I feel however that the size of the tear (at least 2" or 50mm estimated) and that it is on the front cover warrants the 3.0 grade.

Had it been on the back cover I might have been a little more lenient as very rarely do I see people display the back cover of their books!coffeescreen.gif
