Anyone see a signifigant grade increase after pressing a book

Seems like the #1 question I get asked when selling graded books is wether or not they've been pressed. Makes me wonder if I should look into pressing to squeeze a higher grade out of them

Define significant.

If your already starting at 9.4 there isn't much room for improvement but upping it one notch to 9.6 = $$$.

The biggest grade bumps will happen most often in mid grade, but that doesn't often equate into big $$$.

The last submission I had pressed saw one of those books go from a 6.5 graded by another company to a CGC 9.0.

Ok - so not really.

 

The key to getting that pop ( and I have 2 good examples on the linked thread) is to know what to look for.

 

Things like spine roll can be improved

 

NON color breaking creases and wrinkles can be removed

 

Color breaking creases will not be fixed

 

 

Also depends a lot on who is pressing - look for the "Joey" thread for one with a great reputation - ccs also does a good job. Others have recommended hero ( never used myself).
