Chicago Comic Con dinner Saturday August 23rd @ 8 PM

Never did make it to Gibson's. Being vegetarian, I find it a bit difficult to go to a steakhouse and fork over $75 for a baked potato and a side of veggies. lol The Greek Town dinner was fabulous, and had a ton of options for my wife and I. Most importantly, it was a ton of fun hanging out and meeting everyone. I'm sure that's also the big draw for Gibson's as well.

You make a valid point regarding the pricing for vegetarians, Andy. Its something we'll have to discuss for next year's dinner

We allow vegetarians?

We need someone to act as greggy's muse

Time once again for comic geeks attending this year's Chicago Comic Con to get together over great food and drink! The dinner will be held at Gibsons Steakhouse, right across from the Stephens Convention Center, on Saturday August 23rd at 8 PM. It'll be at its traditional home in the Stephens Room. The details are as follows:

- The cost is $75 per person

- You can choose from a number of (enormous) cuts of steak (or, for any vegetarians, there's fish and pasta) and a giant baked potato

- Cash bar

- The room is available to us starting at 7 PM, with dinner scheduled for 8 PM

Last year payment was collected at the dinner (cash), so that's the preferred method. If you don't favor this, you can always send payment via Paypal (PM for info)

Please put "Chicago Con dinner" or "Chicago dinner" in the subject line.

Post in this thread if you intend on joining us for a wonderful evening of food, drink, and comic talk

Oh, and suck it greggy :acclaim:

Maybe next year guys, if you'll have me.... :shy:

Come on down Andy. It is a great show.

That's where I met you (and many boardies) for the first time, Joe. (thumbs u

I've been to the Chicago show twice now, and I still feel it's one of the best for comic books.

As wonderful as that sounds, I can't make it this year. Will shoot for 2015. (thumbs u

Hi. This will be my first con in around 30 years. I would love to meet some boardies at the dinner. I have not met anyone yet but have bought and sold to a bunch via the boards. Is there room for me?

Hi all,

My apologies, but I don't think I'll be able to make it to night. We have a lot of grading to do and I expect I will be here until 9PM or so. Bree is going in my place, with Harshen and Matt Nelson. If I can stop by at all, I will.

I hope you all have a great time!

Best,

Paul

Thanks again for the efforts in putting this great event together! Certainly a highlight of the show without a shadow of a doubt. When else do you get to get your hands on Action 1, Marvel Comics 1, Superman 1, etc, etc while hanging out with Neal Adams, Maggie Thompson, Gary Calubuono, etc, etc, etc. Oh yeah, there was steak and booze too!

Looking forward to next year!

Good people and good food. Glad I got to finally make it to one of these and get a chance to meet people I've been friends with for years. Thanks go out to Angelo for putting this together. We had a fantastic time and can't wait to do it again. :applause:

This was the first time I have attended in a few years. I forgot how much fun they could be. Hanging out with friends, good food and Neal Adams being a guest made for a great evening.

I heard through a friend that Steve B was left holding a huge tab (again). I don't understand how this happens so often. I also don't know why Borock ends up paying it every time, except that I guess he closes down the party, and he is gracious enough to do it.

You guys should really make some sort of adjustment. Its not right that anyone should have to pay $800 to settle a tab for 50 people.

Was not aware of this. I know we collected all the money from everyone at our table, but cannot say the same for the other tables.

Looks like it is time to take up a collection to help Steve get reimbursed.
