EAST COAST COMIC CON - APRIL 11 & 12, 2015 - SECAUCUS, NJ

69 posts in this topic

I'd rate this show very good, parking was easy, the comic dealers were grouped together, mostly in the front row, and there were definitely deals to be had. The big-boys were missing, but the second tier did just fine. There was also a lot of talent on hand at the show, impressive for smaller venue like this. My one complaint was the $10 up-charge for buying a ticket at the door - it wasn't clearly stated the online price was less, or I certainly would have bought a ticket online *.

But I'll give it to them, I think they did a pretty good job. (thumbs u

*it's there, but way at the bottom of the page. Tickets (if available) day of show: Adult $35 ($32.70 +$2.30 NJ sales tax) Kids 6 to 12 yrs old $10 ...

Another hidden secret was that this month is Longshot's 30th anniversary (April 1985). Ann Nocenti scheduled Art Adams and While Portacio for this convention for that purpose. Dont know when we'd see these three on one bill again.

Great pics. There was no line for Trimpe, no line for Hama.. I went tothemarketdownthestreetforsomeCRAZY getting all my books signed between these two. Hama got upset with me when I left him a tip. Such a class act!

How did you fare?

He was doing head sketches for $350 but sold out rather quickly. I got to the show somewhat early but the line for him and Simon Bisley was always huge.

I passed on the head sketches. But overall had a nice show, bought a bunch of comics. It was a fun time - I am on the fence about returning today. Maybe this afternoon.

Another added bonus was meeting John Holmstrom and getting him to sign my Best of Punk Magazine HC.. John is the founding editor of the legendary magazine which coined the phrase "Punk Music" and followed such legendary acts as NY Dolls, Ramones, Patti Smith etc etc
