first look at supergirl costume

supergirl-full-01-126484.jpg

I'm sorry if anyone thinks this looks great, but by her face, she just looks like she doesn't want to be doing this. Possibly even in pain. I actually feel bad for her, if she doing this to get a couple of independent movies greenlit or something.

I don't think there is any need to feel bad for her -- she seems pretty stoked based on her reaction on twitter. (thumbs u

first look at supergirl costume

It's a little plain and dull... needs to be brighter. Still, it could have been worse. It's nice to see a return to the proper 'S' even if it doesn't have the yellow background.

Supergirl's hair though... IT SHOULD BE BRIGHT BLONDE!!!! Someone please tell me there's a bottle of peroxide somewhere on the set...

:frustrated:

I hate it!

I agree it needs to be brighter. Cape needs to be shorter or longer. The fabric is to latexy like in those superhero pornos out there ( ). I think the knees on those boots are gonna be distracting too.

I can live with her hair color, but a smile wouldn't hurt.

Did I say I hated it?

Yep those boots don't work. There should be knees... even Post-Flashpoint Supergirl has knees! Can someone show the producers a pic of Michael Turner's Supergirl!?!

As for the tights... heavy Kryptonian Denier or not, they're still going to ladder ;)

They got the top of the costume almost right. Love how the cape blends in the scoop neck, the "S" emblem is different enough and the the red line of threads outlining her chest was a neat touch for an athletic look, but there's so much stuff uneven about it it too.

Yes, it should have been a cropped top, like the animated Supergirl and Turner version. If the actress was shy, she could have did what Taylor Swift does and cover her belly button with red or gold trim or something. It adds a kind of empowerment of seduction to her powers and because she's pretty much invulnerable, it doesn't hurt if she shows a little skin. Plus, it would have took off five years off the actress's age, lol. Yes, that one piece makes her look about thirty-something.

Her sleeves should be longer with red or gold bracelets/trim at the end of them too. Myself, I prefer short sleeves, but Turner's long sleeve costume really worked in blue. Like before, I think Turner really did great with the cape's design of being so long, I like a short cape myself on one of these femal heroes, but it can look campy. If the cape was longer, she might have pulled off the awful skirt design.

The skirt is definitely lifeless and the worst material choice. But, don't get me started on those boots. lol

I'm sorry if I'm going all Blackwell on this, but this is a disaster for a fan of the character who was actually excited for this show, to see this cheesy uniform on this actress.

Took out that horrible background for a better look. Didn't help much. There's red-piping on the blue shirt and other details, but still.

You'd think pro costumers should be able to design something better than the world of cosplay.

Without the yellow of the S-Sheild it's just an emblem pointing down, the belt points down, and the cape is long. The overall effect is "hangs" or "drapes" rather than "fits". "Heavy" or something. Could be the camera angle and lights.

It's the Man Of Steel treatment. Still don't like what they did to Supes costume in that and I'm a Batman fan!

Man of Steel on a lower budget.

A full length cape would've been preferable, however not very practical I'd imagine. She'd probably trip over it.

This is Supergirl.

That is exactly who I picture when someone mentions a live version of Supergirl.

Let us all go on Louise Mingenbach's Facebook page and personally thank her for introducing us to Superman's now signature muted colored costume and over textured fabric she brought to us in Superman Returns.

We should also thank Colleen Atwood on her twitter page for not bringing anything new to the sewing machine in nine years. :golfclap:
