Wonderful stuff !

I can't remeber the last auction with Hergé + Franquin + Pratt + Uderzo art...

Did it ever happen ?

I do not collect original art anymore but I hope I can see the exhibition.

Lots of beautiful stuff by guys I never heard of before. And some amazing pieces by guys I have heard of like Moebius, Dave Stevens, Kevin O'Neill, Alex Raymond and others. The Osama Tezuka sketch made me gasp, a simple Astro Boy but it is perfect.

Maybe you did not see it, but a lot of pages from Rocketeer volume 2 / Dave Stevens (including this cover) were for sale on Galerie 9ème Art a few months ago. Really nice exhibition but high prices. Remaining pieces cannot be purchased anymore (??) but you can still see all of them here: http://www.galerie9art.fr/index.php?expo=241

The owner of the gallery is the Sotheby's expert for this auction ;-)

Those Dave Stevens pieces are amazing! Glad I can visit his original pages any time I want, in my Rocketeer Artist's Edition.

Interesting thx. May I ask what the typical asking prices were before? I wonder if he hasn't pulled them in order to leak them slowly at Sotheby's.

It was roughly between 5k€ and 16k€ (excluding covers). You can open any art and remove the "expo" part of the URL (leaving the item=xxx part) and you'll see the related price at the bottom of the page. For instance this one was sold at 16.5k€

So that one went for roughly $19,000 American. Thanks for the link and the guidance. I saw them all as they went but only documented a few of the sales.

There are several pieces that sold that are no longer on the site. For whatever reason, some were removed and some were not.

Dave got help on this story from his friends, including Geof Darrow, Art Adams, Mike Kaluta, Gary Gianni, and Sandy Plunkett. Nice to have such an esteemed group of buddies to lend a hand!

Looks like page 257 of the pdf is the Rocketeer Adventure Mag cover. Thoughts? Estimate (62k to 74k) looks optimistic to me. There's just not much going on in that piece.
