They are not cancelling it in name but in spirit. Of the 3 team x books announced only 1 is a x-men book. The other two are villians and young teen versions. With major cast members missing or slapped together with inhumans. If I was a new comic book reader I wouldn't know who the FF team was or who the x-men are (good guys or bad ones) I would even be questioning what makes the inhumans and mutants unique.

Sounds like muddling up the franchise to me. 2c

From just a quick glance.

The Guardians,Spider-Man with Slott, and Spider-Woman look intriguing.

Spider-Woman could be huge. No pun intended. :)

Waid / Kubert on Avengers!?

Aaron / Bachalo on Doctor Strange?!

Pak / Cho on Hulk?!

Aaron / Dauterman on Thor?!

Lemire / Perez on Hawkeye?!

Slott / Camuncoli on ASM?!

Bendis / Pichelli on Miles Morales?!

Soule / Garney on Daredevil?!

Soule / Mcniven on Uncanny Inhumans?!

Ellis / Aja on Karnak?!

Lemire / Ramos on Extraordinary X-Men?!

Lemire / Sorrentino on Old Man Logan?!

There's ten+ NO BRAINERS right there....

Good picks.

I could see them all being hits.

Star-Lord has Deadpool potential to becoming a cult star.

And that is- without a doubt- a direct result of Chris Pratt and movies.

Who didn`t like Star-Lord in GOTG?

There are some intriguing creative teams in that list.

Why does everyone keep saying they are canceling the X-Men?

They are not cancelling it in name but in spirit. Of the 3 team x books announced only 1 is a x-men book. The other two are villians and young teen versions. With major cast members missing or slapped together with inhumans. If I was a new comic book reader I wouldn't know who the FF team was or who the x-men are (good guys or bad ones) I would even be questioning what makes the inhumans and mutants unique.

Sounds like muddling up the franchise to me. 2c

You wouldn't know who the X-Men were if you were a new reader? I'm sorry but that is far from true. My son loves Wolverine at 3. My daughter knows the X-Men very well at 10. There are 5 X-Men movies.

Saying people don't know them because of some shuffling of titles is a stretch.

I'm strictly talking about the comic book x-men not the movies. If I was a 12-13 year old right now would I have seen all 5 x-men movies? Highly doubtful. If I was picking up a x title for the first now and had seen just one of those movies and then browse the new books in October I would be utterly confused.

That would have been true 10, 15, 20, or 25 years ago too though. You also just changed your statement. New readers would know who the X-Men were- they might not recognize the members.

As a lifelong comic reader, I've always had a hard time keeping up with the X-Men. The team is so fluid and confusing.

You also started a pretty big thread claiming Marvel was replacing the X-Men with Inhumans. I don't see that from the new line up at all.

And wasn't one of the purposes of the SW event to clean up the MU? I think now its thrown a monkey wrench and make it more confusing.

OK that point I can agree with.

Still, your points about the X-Men seem off. You haven't really countered that or why you claimed the X-Men were being replaced?

Ok let me clear it up for you.

The three pillars of the X-Men over the last decade have been Scott Summers, Emma Frost, and Logan. All three are shelved for alternates at the moment.

Dead (Inot counting alternates or O5)

Wolverine

Prof X

Jean Grey

Moving to Avengers

Rogue

Deadpool (Also has a solo).

Joining an Inhuman team:

Beast

Guardians of the Galaxy:

Kitty

Missing, rumoured to be involved in an Inhuman plot line down the track: Cyclops, Emma, Cable, Gambit.

Actually confirmed as appearing in an X-book:

Storm, Colossus, Iceman, Nightcrawler, Psylocke, Magneto, Magik, Mystique.

So of arguably the top 20 X-characters: 3 including the most popular are dead, 4 are moving to Marvels preferred franchises, 5 seem to be missing presumed propping up the Inhumans, and only 8 are going to be in X-books.

Sell more Avengers, less FF and X-men properties. They are slowing retconning the FF and X-men to suit their movie needs. Hence why they killed off Wolverine, made some mutants into Inhumans and disbanded FF. All about the $$'s for Disney. During the last reboot was there any series that is attracting the cash and interest like Batman #1??

Can you list the lineups before? Wasn't Cyclops a bad guy with a different mask for a while?

Beast has been on the Avengers before- it isn't uncommon for him to float around.

Had Deadpool ever been in an X-Men title full-time?

Hasn't Jean Grey been dead for a long time? That seems like a non starter.

Prof. X comes and goes all the time. How many times has he been dead or gone?

The biggest missing name seems to be Wolverine.

List the X-Men teams in the last few years. At any given time, picking up the book the team is different. The X-Men have always shaken up the status quo. I'm not sure why that is a bad thing? I'm not sure how this is any different?

Watch out for ULTIMATES! This seems the most intriguing to me, Two awesome up-and coming characters, America Chavez and Blue Marvel, this could be a game changer. And Galactus? Sweet! With all that dark matter blue marvel can produce, he should be able to keep galactic fat and happy. Really Looking forward to this fresh new concept. Make mine marvel.

My comments about the top 20 x-men in books pre-SW versus post-SW. Can you honestly tell me what makes a mutant a mutant and a inhuman a inhuman? The mists used to be the most obvious way inhumans were "enhanced" but not anymore. Mutants were born with the x-gene but that has been muddled.

Keep believing nothing is wrong here. In the past look what we have had for the x-men. Persecution, extermination, the destruction of Genosha, virus, No More Mutants, the destruction of Utopia by the supposed greatest heroes of the planet the Avengers, the failed mutant revolution and now this thing with the Inhumans If you take a bigger picture the brand of x-men are the bad guys Avengers whoop up on every now and then.
