Little group shot of my latest pick ups :cloud9:

Been trying to put together a run of Barks Scrooge, FCs + 4-71 I think. Nice looking copies are few and far between...

Those are great pickups! Four Color #256 is one of my all-time favorite covers and stories.

Working on that run myself, down to about 18 issues to go.  (I'm only trying for the three US 4C's specifically, although I'll take other Barks issues if I come across them.)  Issue #67 is a reprint, so I'm not bothering with that issue specifically, either.  They're great books!

I had all of the Uncle Scrooge issues by Barks at one time but I think a couple have gone Walkabout.  I purchased all of the early issues in the sixties but sold them to a comic book store in East Lansing just before the prices went up.  I found some at the flea market and purchased the first issue (386) on ebay.

Gorgeous book and a really nice depiction of Scrooge. So happy and concentrated with his $$$ AND accomplishing something rather profane and nice at the same time ... And the colors an outstanding match!

I'm trying to get a complete run of the Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck FCs plus complete through present of US. I'm missing 13 FC duck books, 27 from US 1-71, and 79 from US 1- present including all variants. lol I think I have a Duck problem.

Nah, I honestly think every hard-core collector should try for ONE complete run going way back, however they choose to define that.  A complete run of Uncle Scrooge fits that requirement quite nicely.

Mine is Legion of Super Heroes, I've got every issue all the way back to Adventure 247.  What I don't always have are variants with the same cover art, although I do have the Whitman variants.  I think the Whitman #264 is the single rarest Legion issue.  Which ties back to Scrooge... It came out the same time and is rare for the same reason as Uncle Scrooge #179.

All the talk of collecting runs made me dust of these pictures. This was the first run I completed after getting back into comics in 2008. :cloud9:  If I'd known then what I know now I'd have bought other things and left the ducks for later, but these stories were my first love. I've upgraded a few of these over the years, but I still have the full run.

Looks like a very nice run! Gotta ask though, what shape is the #6 in? hm

Cool Mickey book!  Reminds me of one of my favorite comics...

Ha ha! The interiors are probably a bit different. I remember my younger brother bought that book at a flea market when we were kids. Wonder what happened to it? Did you ever watch the Crumb documentary? Robert and his brother collected Walt Disney Comics and Stories and it inspired them to start making their own books. My favorite part of the story is when he ended up working for Hallmark out in Kansas City; boy talk about a fish out of water but I would love to have seen his greeting card proposals!!

The #6 in the photo was a VG+ I bought from Mr Bedrock. I think it was trimmed, but it presented pretty well. Now I have a de-slabbed 6.5 As I'm sure you know because you asked that question, it's a very tough book in grade! Here's the upgrade. I'd really like a nice bright 8.0, but wouldn't we all? lol

Your mom probably found it. My mom ripped up some UGs I had and slapped my butt. So from them on, they went up into the wooden box in the treehouse with my MADs and my uncle's ECs which she was none to fond of...

Yeah, great documentary. One weird family! Yeah, they were voracious comic book readers and were very inspired by them.

His stuff for Hallmark was very tame. I've seen some of his cards. They are probably on line some where. I remember Hallmark trying to recruit some of my illustrator friends out of school. They were offering a lot of money but you had to move to St. Louis and sign a 2 or 3 year contract. Nobody took them up on it.

While I'm in this thread, I might as well show off a few new books. I've been selling off all of my WDC&S after #100 that were less than fine and buying a smaller number of higher graded issues.I really like high grade Dells, and I was pleased to get these VFish copies.
