Shrevvy
BOOT, those are awesome. I've never heard of anything like this. Can you provide some background info? Where were they published? Were they widely distributed? How do you find them? Could provide any more interior pics of the others?
BOOT
BOOT, those are awesome. I've never heard of anything like this. Can you provide some background info? Where were they published? Were they widely distributed? How do you find them? Could provide any more interior pics of the others? Thanks for the nice comments! Glad you folks like them! Each one has its own background story. Have found them in many weird places, but one prime source is America's Garage Sale, aka eBay. For more comics by Service Members, with some interior pics, check out this thread. vaillant
We should group them all, and have a directory of all the threads related to World War Two and the war events. There were some pretty cool and meaningful!

BOOT
Not an actual vintage WWII comic. This is a prop comic produced by D.C. for Spielberg's Empire of the Sun, the great movie about J.G. Ballard's internment in a Japanese prison camp in China during WWII. Also a picture from the movie of Christian Bale as Jim reading the comic. BOOT
This comic was produced in Tegernsee, Germany in Autumn of 1945, presumably to encourage good relations between American GIs and local residents. Here is an interesting article in the New York Times about how Tegernsee was spared from destruction.

EBE
I was wondering when "How Boys and Girls can help win the War" was going to make an appearance! This has been a really interesting and informative thread, and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. --ElJay
