Official thread for the Calgary Expo 2016

Last year's 4 day show had an attendance of 102,000.

Announced guests include:

Don Rosa

William Shatner

Steven Yeun

Garrett Wang

Lucy Lawness

Michael Gambon

Joe Rubinstein

Joe Staton

Mike Zeck

and many more.

A trip to the Calgary Expo and nearby, beautiful Banff National Park would be a wonderful holiday and very affordable for US collectors looking to take advantage of our weak $$

dear Dave human torch,

I will be there shopping from Thurs. Apr 28 afternoon to Sat. late afternoon Apr 30/16. I already have tentative dinner plans at Chianti's for the Friday night with a comic vendor stuck in the Big 4 Building. Hopefully, his sales will be OK there.

Your Thursday comicon shift seems to be quite long with dealer set up and then the Expo closing at 9 p.m. :tonofbricks:

I love, love, love this show! :whee:

My Edmonton buddies, Vancouver buddies, Calgary buddies and definitely my Florida buddies make this show for me. :cloud9:

Actually, this particular show usually has a knockout selection of Golden Age books. Dave is right about US buyers taking advantage of the dollar right now The difference is not chump change any more. 2c

Looking forward to visiting Forest City Andy at booths 1507 to 1508 and his friendly neighbours :luhv: Human Torch Dave and his posse. I will be hanging around booths 616 to 618 Canadian Comics.net, and finally have time to visit the vendors in the Big 4 Building, as a shopper.

If Edmonton Oilers don't make it into the Stanley Cup playoffs, any chance Calgary Expo can get Connor McDavid as a signer? This would make Joey very happy. Noticed there was at least 1 hockey card vendor booth there.

It is a great show. Selling comics is fun but breaking bread and downing beer with all you guys is wonderful.

Will the weather be a balmy 15 Celsius during the Expo due to global warming? Warmer in Calgary than Vancouver today. Amazing. (thumbs u Kung hei fat choy ! :headbang:

Very warm winter. US boardies, don't bother bringing your jackets and feel free to trim your back hair as you won't need a shaggy pelt.

Just a general question for a first time attendee, would a day and a half be enough to checkout everything at the show? I tend to stop and talk to fellow collectors and vendors and wander through artist alley.

Show looks huge from the map.

Any comments are appreciated.

Hey Sam, it's a pretty big show but if you're just there for comics it's not too bad. Harley Yee sets up, Forest City (thirdgreenham), Anthill, 2 Montreal dealers, ourselves (Clobberin Time) and a few others. Please come by and say hi and if you can join us for dinner.

I didn't realize US boardies were so hairy.

Rumor has it.......apparently joeypost was once named hairypost

What...I find it easier than carrying a coat around with me. The extra insulation stinks where I live, but in the great white north it is :cloud9:
