Batman - examples from the Masters!

55 posts in this topic

Reading the Greg Capello website thread, a couple boardies talked about the masters of Batman OA, including Capello and others. I realized there were a couple of examples in my folios (sketches and published), and the light was good, and there is never a bad time to go through your art.

So here are a couple picks of my "masters", with a focus on a full-bodied Batman.

Please add your own, as my humble collection is missing quite a few (Miller, Adams, Rodgers, Bolland, Lee, Aparo, Jones, Finch, Pope, etc, etc)... - Bob

Tim Sale and Jason Fabok

It's hard to talk about artistic masters, without bringing up the late and great Gil Kane. While he might not have had a huge association with Batman, on the times he stepped into his world, his skill and craftsmanship certainly shown he was worthy of a place at the "table of the Bat."

I wish I had a great Killing Joke page to put up instead but the search continues :)

Could have just saved the trouble of the entire thread, and just put up your CAF page instead. Wow...just spent the last half hour going through your gallery. Adams, Wrightson, Perez, Rogers, Zeck, Finch, Sprang....they're all there! wow.

Capullo/Glapion:

Favourite splash from my favourite story from my favourite artist...doesn't get any better than this for me. Well, except for a cover! :P

Not sure if this thread is Batman exclusive, or includes villains...so here's a couple more from Capullo:

Chris Stevens. Not a 'classical' master, but a modern one, in my opinion.
