I had a board member use the wife excuse on the Avengers 57 I sold him. Gave me every "this is my Grail book, I am taking this to my grave" line to get it for a discounted price from me. A week later I see it up an HighGrade Comics site for considerably more. When I asked him why he was selling his "Grail" book he used the wife excuse. When I said no problem, send me back the book and I will refund payment and shipping he all of a sudden could not arrange for that to happen. I hope some board detectives can pull up that sales thread to see who it was.

 

You should don your Inspector Gadget hat and figure out what that d-bag's board name is.

 

Sheeeit, let me know approximately when the sale took place and I'll dig up the thread.

 

That is some HOS worthy behavior, no doubt.

"Hello yes how are you ok I bought your Avengers 57 and I was seriously going to take it to grave I had the plot and everything unfortunately I came down with awful disease and am hospital for the rest of the year also my wife went ballistic when she saw. My car is on the fritz due to transmission has exploded and also the damn cat hit the buy it now. For these and many other reasons I can come up with I simply cannot purchase book at this time. I will however let you send me book, and I will pay when convenient."

There is no indication who bought that AV 57 - if it is the 8.5 from the March Sale for a Grail thread. Maybe done via PM?

 

lol - I looked as well and came to the same result. I figured he meant the Avengers 8.5 for $600.

3rd time here in Alberta for me in 35 years. I really wanted your book, but I got to eat. No way of paying visa, even if it comes. I am sure you will sell it soon. Thank you. I just don't have a way of paying you. Thank you for waiting. I was optimistic, but lesson learned in many ways with these banks, PayPal, etc.

 

These are actual messages I received this week. I suppose both could be true except that these, or a variation there of, seem to be the only excuses I ever receive. After a while, it wears thin. If I had a nickel as they say... Any thing original out there?

 

The Alberta one is totally plausible. Like 100%

Someone doesn't pay the feedback is automatically generated: BUYER DID NOT PAY FOR THIS ITEM.

 

Buyer has 3 such incidents and goes to bid: SELLER MUST ALLOW BID TO PROCEED

Sends message to seller: BUYER ISUKK21 WANTS TO BID ON YOUR ITEM. BUYER HAS 3 UNPAID ITEMS IN LAST 6 MONTHS. ALLOW-------- NOT ALLOW

Sean, this was a sale from a few years ago. That copy was a CGC 9.6.
