Negro Romances #4 VS Lawbreakers Suspense #11 :)

32 posts in this topic

Out of the 1400ish Charltons needed for a complete 1940s-1950s Charlton run, these are two of the last I need. I would choose the Negro Romances #4 due to its scarcity (rarity?), and have had several opportunities to pick up a Lawbreakers #11 if I wanted to pull the trigger. (not recently). Which would you choose? Rare niche romance comic vs scarce very desirable pre-code horror cover? :)

If you are trying to complete a Charlton collection, I would have to go for the Negro Romances #4 the minute you saw a copy for sale. Such a rare issue.

I'm not in your boat though so I would also opt for the LBSS11 in a heartbeat. Much better comic overall.

Still the rescue :applause:

Tough book. I think CC auctioned the most recent copy ( a year or two ago?).

I think that may be the 5.0 on GPA that sold for $1,280.

I would be happy to pay that! :D

No, it was a raw beater copy that sold for $500 and change.

Underbidder! :hi::cry:

When Point Five loses out on a 0.5, you know the book must be hot! :D

I think Tony has a copy hm

But that I did. I think I may have posted this scan a while back, but it's from GCD.

I think I uploaded that to GCD from Heritage many years ago. :)

And oddly enough, I do have a Lawbreakers Suspense #11, and love it. Got lucky on this one!

Little is known about cover artist Lou Morales

He was close friends with Matt Baker, as mention on Art of Glamour book.

Both work at St John.

Cool cover
