bffnut
I apologize in advance if there is a real obvious source for information on these. I tried doing a search for a thread on the boards but couldn't find anything. I found this on the web, but it was last updated almost 10 years ago. http://heroesgalaxy.com/variants/marvel-vintage-pack/ Does anyone care about these anymore? Does anyone have a list of which issues have variants? I'd love to see a thread for these similar to the DCU logo thread. awakeintheashes
STLComics had a great site dedicated to these and other JCPenney reprints. Sadly, I don't think the site is active anymore. If it has moved to a new location or if there is a similar site, I'd love to find out. I had quite a few of these because I was gifted them for a few Christmases. I sold most of them, but I am trying to locate my duplicate copy of Hulk 140. The Hulk 140 I sold had a double cover back before I appreciated how cool multiple covers were

fastballspecial
Wow a complete set. I gave up on that years ago. Too many obscure books that are a nightmare to find. I still enjoy finding them, but I gave up that dream a long time ago you are the man. Edited June 19, 2016 by Fastballspecial

There was talk about setting up another one, but the boardies involved never got around to it I don't think. Metarog, Cosmic Spider-man, and Shield Agent can give you a lot info on them. That is the article I wrote on the 3 MVP sets for the STLcomics gallery way back when. These sets are near and dear to me and I have all 3 sets in Minty condition. They can be a pain to put together but luckily I grabbed 2 of them complete. I even have the JC Penney catalogs they were featured in. Metarog
There are a couple others with no logos that have identifying characteristics... All the 1993 MMEs are a duller gray than the originals and have a slightly lighter shade on the right borders. The Avengers 4 has a gray border all around similar to MMEs. The 1992 Hulk MME is of a much lighter gray than the original and the "facsimile" in the M logo is harder to make out. The others are much tougher to ID without seeing the insides but will be much glossier than the originals.
jerome34
Did JC Penny's also have such a line of DC comics? I sure hope not - there are still too many DC variants I am missing.

Not to my knowledge and none are in the 1992-1994 catalogs except for the DC Collecting Kits which I believe were just regular Newsstand editions but no DC Vintage packs are in the listings. Bird
I hope so! I got the New Warriors one (issue 10 I think) in a collection I bought. It looked different and then I researched and found out why. Cool thing to have, I can see the attraction now that I have one.
AnthonyTheAbyss
Do the individual books sell for much of a premium? The only one I can speak to is the Uncanny X-Men 268. CGC 9.8 (regular) sells around $75. CGC 9.8 (JC Penny) sold for $200 about 3 months ago and I saw a few go for $150 - $175 prior to that. This book might be an outlier versus the other JC Penny ones because it's Jim Lee's first book on Uncanny X-Men.
