Excellent colors on that copy! This has always been one of my favorite Doolin covers of the run.

The blues are outstanding - blue is a color we often neglect in favor of strong reds, but often goes grey. When I first 'discovered' Planets in the photojournal - must be nearly 30 years ago now - this is the cover that stood out for me at the time. Very ERB!

This was my old copy.  I think it was the only Planet from the Central Valley Pedigree.  The mis-wrap was unfortunate but the colors were great.

BTW, if posting books that I used to have is a problem for anyone, I can stop.

Actually, there also was a Planet 4 in the Central Valley collection.

Lovely book.

Central Valley is the pedigree that made me abandon my quest of trying to own a Planet from each Pedigree. I just felt I would never see a book for sale with so few available. There are some other pedigrees with very few Planet books available as well. Was a foolish quest.

Don't know if anyone was watching or bidding on ebay a week or so ago but actually had two separate Planet 2 raws selling ending 4 days apart.

One in good plus and the other about fine, achieved decent prices esp for raws.  Hope someone had luck on these sweet books.  The one seller had nice copies of 18 and 22 as well, with strong prices.  The 22 seemed like a nice deal for the grade.

There was a really nice looking #18 in the same auction, and a higher grade #22.  It’s nice to see some rivets hitting the market!

No love for Planets in the 50th Overstreet Guide. Or maybe it’s just mine there’s no love for:tonofbricks:

Agreed. It's absolutely bizarre that not one Planet book appears in Overstreet's hallowed "Top 10 Sci-Fi Comics" list (based on the 2019-2020 guide). 5-ish years ago, at least Planet 1 squeaked into the top 100 GA books, but no more.

This more than anything underscores just how out of touch the OSPG has become. Stating the obvious of course. :whatev:
