I think we all would like to know but it's really not that important. That being said, who doesn't like to guess at what happened? :grin:

 

If I were to speculate, I'd say he was unloading his van/truck, saw a really quick opportunity to snatch a box, did so and didn't dare to bring it out. After realizing the value of the goods and the press that this theft was getting, he figured he was in over his head and therefore reached out to do the right thing. My 2c

Not if it wasnt an accident. Sensing he prolly didnt call from his own phone.

 

If it wasn't an accident I would be nervous as hell about getting them back. Or getting them ALL back.

"Thats friggin awesome. Can i drive down and come get them? I've been a nervous wreck and just want them back in my possession."

"Totally my fault. I'll drive them back to you since it was 100% my fault. I'll leave right this minute"

 

Anything outside of that and its fishy. Hope you get them back very soon.

certain books were identified that confirm box identity. Beyond that , I'm still optimistic I will get back via the agreed method. Still would rather have been on the road getting tonight but as long as it ends well, I will feel blessed

Even if it was accidental the OP may feel like their reputation could be damaged without maintaining some kind of anonymity. Also for $85k worth of comics being picked up in person they'd have to expect GAtor arriving with a police/sheriff escort.

That would be my guess. I have absolutely no opinion on this matter and only hope for the safe return of G.A.tor's property.

Makes sense. Especially considering the box went missing during setup on Thursday and not after close. It would be more likely the box got mixed up in another dealers stock during close as dealers have no incentive to look at the contents again before putting them on the truck to leave. If there were an accidental box mixup on Thursday that would mean the OP didn't look at one entire box of comics the entire weekend which is highly highly unlikely -especially if the box has the words CGC comics on it.
