Subscription Comics 1970s style

5 posts in this topic

It hurts my feelings to see this, however I was in on it during the early, early seventies, for 6 years (DD and Cap). Still have all the books, none having been left in their brown wrap though. I called CGC years ago and asked, given their experience what was the best grade they ever saw a subscription book receive and I seem to recall they said a 7.0. I am guessing this would mean little or no color break across the crease, no banged up corners, etc. Now I wonder with a quality press could a book result in an 8.0 or 8.5?

I subscribed to the Marvel Star Wars comic. The ads always said "mailed flat", as if that brown wrapper was going to protect anything.
