Black Cat #51

One of the best BC covers in my opinion!

-The angle from in the water looking up at the body is so frikkin smart!

-I can't say enough about the color in this one. :applause:

-One of the best drawn covers from Lee Elias.

-The subtle trail of blood from the poor guy's mouth leading the viewer's eye to the mill in the background. wow

-Even though I got a good price for this, I'm going to need an upgrade soon!

Woah! I figured it was supposed to end with an image like that. Why is it that the panel was empty? Was it left out of some of the copies?? (shrug)

Wow! That Flee is something else aint he?!

Well it looks like I came in late to the BC 51 party but what a great story!! The minimalist in me kinda likes the blank panel. Made me use my brain, which is something I don't often do when reading some of these PreCode rags. :insane:

Really, I would of preferred it if some of the copies that made it out had the panel. It would of been a great variant to hunt down. Beautiful art in that story by the way!

Believe me, I was so hoping someone would've popped up with an uncencored copy but that doesn't seem likely.

Just another thing to love about these books, you never know what cool stuff you may find inside! (thumbs u

What are you trying to do Matthew? Get me into Pulps?!

Seriously, those are great covers!

Even though there might of been some "borrowing" I think Everett still made it his own. Those comic guys were banging out work so quickly, I think they just drew whatever was at the top of their mind, even if it was an old pulp cover they saw the day before in a discount box at the newstand.

Oh, I agree for sure, that's why I called it "Inspiration" as it is not in any way a rip off. The hands & expression are all that are in common, the Psychological horror in Everett's is much better IMHO. The fact that it's happening to her, with no apparent reason, and even though here hands are disintegrating, she STILL has to put them on the side of her face she is in such shock, well that is just plain messed up. And Wonderful.

Oh, and pulp covers are pretty dang sweet, the best advice is to just not even look at them! lol

Out of the Shadows number 8 signed by it's famed cover artist Jack Katz!!!! Thanks to Kris Moore and a rare convention appearance by Mr. Katz, this pre-code Horror Classic Cover got signed at this year's Comic Con. No doubt a one of a kind!
