I think I posted this a while back in the Atlas thread, but as long as were showing Atlas decapitation themes, I'll post it here as well. Not exactly the scariest of images, but when I saw this in one of Craig Yoe's "Arf" series of books, I had to have it. The story is just as weird.

[font:Times New Roman]First posting of this recent CLink auction urn to the Undead Thread...[/font] :insane:

Looking at this cover it's hard to imagine him doing GGA or romance. He has such an eerie style that fits pch so well.

Possibly the definitive horror artist, if not the most influential. His overtly baroque style was very much ahead of the game for the 1950s.

Part of my Atlas haul at the recent Mike Carbo's Big Apple show.

I am giddy at finally obtaining a decent copy of this issue. A Maneely cover gem!!

ST 28 is a lower grade copy, but I will buy this issue anytime at any grade.

When you look back at the catalogs so thoughtfully posted on the art section of the boards showing the results of Russ Cochran's auctions, Ingels pieces brought a premium over most everyone but Frazetta. His pages have a flow all their own.

When I was growing up, I was very intrigued with Berni Wrightson's work, but wouldn't realize until years later how influenced he was by Ingels.

The Ingels covers on Haunt of Fear are brilliant as a whole. When Cochran finally got Bill Gaines to agree to sell him one piece of original art from his vault, the first choice was Frazetta's WSF 29 cover, the only piece Bill didn't own, and his second choice was Ingels HOF 18, which he then reprinted as a poster and sold at $1 each.

Sorry to blather on, congrats on a great book David!
