Here's a book I fell in love with the first time it was posted here on the boards. This copy I followed from collector to collector and when the time was right, it was offered to me. It's the Crowley copy and I really have to re scan this book!

Nice one! Based on your high recommendation for this book, I finally picked up a copy last year you might remember. Honestly I was never that into the WOF 3 cover for some reason (similar to how you felt about Chamber Of Chills 16). After reading the issue however, I agree that it is mandatory for the Precode collection. Those Glockooms! (Is that how you spell them?) Pretty weird stuff.

Gklooms I believe. And it's a great Hiroshima/anti nuclear bomb story!

What I like most is the story length in these Fawcetts, about 9 pages if I recall! (thumbs u

GKMLOOOMS

Here are scans (not mine) of the full story.

This has been reprinted several times in different collections, for good reason. A true pre-code classic, a real nightmare story with amazing art by the great George Evans.

This is what set Fawcett apart from and above other precode publishers - the length of their stories and the willingness to explore longer, more inventive narratives. EC and Atlas stories were mostly formulaic - you could often guess the "twist" halfway through the story. But Fawcett really stretched out their horror stories, ratcheting up the suspense and horror.

With major talent like George Evans and Bob Powell, some of the long Fawcett stories are among the best horror comics ever produced. This story from Worlds of Fear #3 and "The Slithering Horror of Skontong Swamp" (also by Evans) from This Magazine is Haunted #5 are the best of the best.
