Popularity and prices of books in this genre have been skyrocketing - especially in the past 6 - 8 months. However, it seems that this thread has been declining in activity. rjpb
I've noticed groupings of Timely/Atlas GGA humor on Heritage go for insane prices. They routinely get top dollar for individual books as well, but the groupings seem to sell for even more on a pro-rated basis. That Hedy lot is a perfect example, there is no way those would average $528 apiece sold individually, a couple issues might hit that if slabbed, but not the whole lot. One downside of having several books in a lot rather than listing them individually is that you typically get a full cover shot of just one book. For the rest, you have to rely on the letter grade they assign, along with (occasionally) the noting of a significant defect. I could see this deterring some bidders -- it's deterred me sometimes. And, of course, somebody who wants only a single book from the lot and who might have paid a high price for it, may not bid at all because he doesn't want to get stuck paying for the other books.
