Glad you got it! I didn't realize until just now that there are only 11 on the census!

Yeah. Pretty low number for a book of that popularity level.

Nice snag. As to the price, wasn't there a pretty beat raw copy on eBay that went for about what you paid? So, particularly given how well this copy presents, I think you got a good deal.

Three nice pickups. I took a run on that Comics 1. Great book!

I really liked some of the comics issues that followed 2,3,4 i think but had to save $$ for other big items, trying not to just buy everything that is shiny and interesting

Haven't been around in Gold much (or elsewhere on the Boards for that matter), but I figured this was the best way to say "hi" to all my ole buddies in the GA Forum. :hi:

There was one gem in this month's C-Link auction that I just had to have. Since I am never going to own a high grade Cap # 1, this seemed like a suitable alternative, and it's still a grail book for me, being a Classic Schomburg cover as well as a first issue Timely key. The recent sale of the Penn copy in the Heritage Auction for a whopping $45k made me realize it was now or never if I ever wanted this book.

The old label goodness and below OS Guide sale price were the cherry and nuts on top of my awesome Sundae.

Yeah Tony, I couldn't pass it up. Thought it might would go 350-400 higher and I would have had to let it go.

Couldn't resist this one: Highest graded, ped copy, Baker cover, and low price.

Haha! I was tracking that one! Have it written down on a post-it attached to my computer monitor reminding me that it ends at 11:44 on 12/6! In the end I decided not to go after it since it was out of my focus :shy:

:golfclap: Smart buy, and highest graded to boot! Flirted with the idea to buy it, but next two nights have books i've long wanted to get. But best believe just like Seven Sea #4, i think this book will eventually be a much desired Baker outside of his Roamance work. Again, smart buy.

I'm 3 for 3 but still a few more items I am watching

Congrats. In particular that Bat 31 is in my top 5 of all time fav covers. That is an extraordinary example of one. (thumbs u

Thanks for all the congrats for my pickups. I am especially happy with the 56. This book is notorious for poor registration but this copy is perfect (look at HA archives to see a lot of examples. Especially obvious on Batman's fingers).
