Why no love for the first Schomburg?

Startling Stories Sept 1939- first Alex Schomburg in print. Yes I know it's a pulp but being 1939 and such an amazing cover, how does this not get the respect that it deserves? If this was on a comic, would be a 100k book. Pulp pulp pulp...guess I will keep buying these for under $20. Just shocked it isn't more relevant

Why don't people appreciate pulps?

1 - dunno about anyone else, but I don't ever see them in the wild. No auctions, no garage sales, nothing.

2 - no pictures

Pulps are ridiculously underrated 2c

I would be buying way more pulps if:

1. There was a photo journal complete pulp cover book.

2. Pulps were professionally graded

3. More widely available. Right now it seems they're usually either priced really high by sellers who are in the know. Or available cheaper but with much more risk. Usually in very bad condition.

Kind of ironic. In the past year, I've found far more nice pulps at flea markets than GA comics. Sellers don't know what they are and usually price them cheap because lack of pricing information. What I like is I am always discovering new ones I've never seen before.

Even pulp collectors who've been at it for decades have no idea of the existence of this title. Schommie's steady monthly job, started before and continuing after his "stint" in comics. It documents his steady evolution as an artist, which include stylistic adventures beyond over the top and xela.
