SquareChaos
Comics have "worked blue" for a very long time, and they will continue to do so. There are entire publishers that put out little more than familiar stories recast as softcore porn. This cover goes further than anything I've seen from a major publisher, but why should it really be treated any different just because the graphic imagery isn't hiding between the pages? This way seems more honest to me, and it doesn't bother me. It obviously isn't intended for children, though I know some still see a funny book and immediately think someone is out to corrupt the minds of our youth, but I can't imagine we have any of those here. deadleg

CGC looks through the whole book when grading, not just the cover so, I still don't see why they wouldn't grade this. Can you link me to the section of their policy where it states that they wouldn't grade this? The references to books like Cherry are valid points. I'm not sure why CGC grades those. But I've been told in the past they won't grade Hustler magazines either.
JcomicJ
Any chance a cgc rep could give a response on this?
deadleg
Quickest way to get an answer is to call CGC.

Bill1
Never even occurred to me that posting a pic of the book we are talking about would get it pulled, since we are a comic book discussion place, and presumably all adults. No big deal, though. Wouldn't want to offend anyone....

Juno Beach
Have any of the Boundless comics been slabbed? Some of the adult covers are way more extreme than the Savage Dragon cover.
mschmidt
CGC won't grade books that feature penetration or explicit pornography on the cover - nudity, however, is fine. At WW Chicago, one guy tried to submit this book and was told they wouldn't slab it.

TheRealVenom
My friend had Larson sign a SD 225 at fan expo. We talked to the cgc rep there in charge and were told ultimately it's up to the grader. He took a chance and subbed it anyways. So I'll know in a couple weeks if it hits graded status I suppose. SquareChaos
CGC refusing to slab a comic book from a major publisher is ridiculous as far as I'm concerned - I don't care what content it has. They seem perfectly fine slabbing war-time issues with racist depictions right on the cover, but they find cartoon lady bits too disagreeable? I hope they ended up slabbing that copy from Fan Expo that @TheRealVenom mentioned, please do keep us informed. There is none on this cover so shouldn't be an issue as far as I'm concerned. The books by boundless tho they won't touch.

Having a line is understandable, and I know that line will need to be drawn somewhat arbitrarily, so I can accept this policy if it is their boundary. An earlier post mentioned that it may be up to the discretion of the individual grader... something I find absurd. You shouldn't run a business like that. Looking forward to hear how this all turns out.

Personal morality should have no bearing in doing your job in this instance. Maybe I'll start up my own Penetration Only grading service? Hmm... deadleg
I'm sure you guys have seen the cover uncensored by now. Can we actually say it's "penetration" though? Sure the one lady just happens to be sitting on a certain area of Dragon's lap and the other lady is very much nude but we can't actually see physical penetration. TheRealVenom
Just to update this, my buddy got an email from cgc. The book is being returned raw. Reason is explicit cover image. So no, CGC will not grade this book. At least Larson didn't charge him for a cgc witnesses signature. F For Fake and JcomicJ
