I'd put it under the "Published/Unpublished Other" category. Why? Well, commissions (and even convention sketches) have an element of risk that is not present in pre-drawn pieces. That is, with commissions/sketches, you generally pre-pay and get what you get even if you don't like it. That risk is removed for pre-drawn pieces. Make sense? Brian Peck
52 minutes ago, Ironmandrd said: Just finished voting. Thanks again to CAF, Bill, Brian et al for putting this together. A few observations--This is such a GREAT way to see a bunch of art that may otherwise be missed. Every category had me saying "wow" to one or more pieces I hadn't seen before. For me, the three hardest categories to pick only 5 were (in order): Interior Panel Pages, Covers and surprisingly Other. Just so many great pieces overall. One question that occurred to me was about the distinction between Commissions and Sketch Covers/Convention Sketches since many of the convention sketches looked as detailed as the Commissions. There is always grey areas, yes some artist put in crazy amount of work on some con pieces. These days artists are putting a lot of effort into pieces they create at cons since there is a lot of competition for the collector dollars. I have had commissions that have silicate detail as con pieces. Con sketch category was put in for those who got pieces that were less expensive at cons. Nothing is perfect and I think this has worked out relatively well. There is always exactions. alxjhnsn

Brian Peck
Someone is using the Best of over on the Comicartwrangler-l list to promote art they entered in the Best of. The best of was never intended to pimp art sales. This is in very poor taste to piggy back your art sales on the back of Best of. Best of was always intended as a forum to discover art people have missed being posted over the previous year. To all, in future DO NOT USE the Lowry for commercial purposes to promote sale of art you own. I know Bill doesn’t appreciate wasting his time to help promote someone’s sales. If this happens in the future, may take steps to restrict the person’s access to the Lowry. John E.
Congratulations to all those who ranked first place. Man, that "Splash/Pinup" category was a tight race. And thanks to everyone who voted for my pieces, especially the Vader's Little Princess art. I received a whopping 14 votes! I am honored and Jeffrey Brown would be too. I don't think I can ever out-do that next year!

alxjhnsn
My vote totals were amazing especially considering how little I paid for art this year; my two biggest vote getters were both $250. All five pieces got a vote - that's a record for me. Two pieces made the 10 ten in their category - never had one in the top ten before. Lots of fun looking at everyone's art. Thanks Bill and Brian! Pete Marino
Fun as always, and interesting. Usually the published other is a mish mash or random stuff, but this year it might have been one of the strongest categories, with the fraz like, the struzan, a borris for good measure and a whole slew of cool movie posters. alxjhnsn and The Voord
