Isn't there color loss on the front cover corner tips? And what about the colorbreaking spine stresses on the black back cover?

 

My eyes must be playing tricks on me, no modern 9.8 could ever have so many visible flaws.

Wow - despite what Nikos called numerous production issues and 2 tiny nicks, it got a 9.8 - i thought 9.4 was the safe guess.

'strange staining' indeed. I was guessing everything from foxing to blood spray, and Nikos just says, I think it's production related...

Now I know how much CGC deducts for production errors that smear ink all over one edge of a comic - nothing! I should have learned by now. I was hoping there was a cut-off at somepoint for that sort of thing! In my PM to Nikos I wrote that 9.4 was probably good for 1 point no matter which way it went - and I see I was right.

 

A question for forum members: would any of you consider a raw book with that obvious a flaw a 9.8 book?

I think the strange staining is consistent throughout the print run. I checked my copy, and have the same stuff. I still went with 9.6 because of the random imperfections. I might have to send mine in.

Being unfamiliar with the book - I looked at copies on ebay etc., to see if it was a common flaw - and therefore more likely to be forgiven - i didn't see another scan with anything like that staining so I deducted for it.
