There is so much white on that cover and it is just so white! I realize that makes me sound like I took a recreational trip to Colorado, but I think most will know what I mean. mwotka, MrBedrock and Marty Mann

Popular Post mwotka
Beautiful books everyone!! In particular Richard's books are just unbelievable, but when you own a run of Mile High More Funs, you are doing something right in life. And Vern is a close second, top notch as well! I have a thing for More Funs as well, as you might be able to tell from my sig line. That pic is a few years old and I've made a few nice additions. I have added a few of my more recent books. I was originally inspired to start buying them after reading Mark Zaid's awesome threads years back about his quest for the full run (I think he finished like 3-4 books short before he sold a bunch off, but got all the big ones). Mine are primarily lower grade or restored, but that keeps things affordable (somewhat). I love the comic history associated with the title, from the early origins of the New Funs as the earliest DC/National original comics to the adventure stories years and on into a superhero book featuring two of my all time favorite characters in The Spectre and Dr. Fate (and Aquaman, Green Arrow and Superboy aren't too shabby either). I have striven primarily for Spectre/Dr. Fate covers, with some earlier adventure covers when I can get them. And I think Jiminy is pretty cool too. Anyone parting with undercopies/extras, would love to talk to you... And keep the gems coming! I love when these books buried in collections see the light of day. Some of them only come up for sale once every few years, very special to see what everyone has. D84, MrBedrock, ender and 2 others
Popular Post AnkurJ
Bought this one back in 1998 at a Big Apple Con held in the church basement. Ah good memories. Had to give up an Action 23 but no regrets. D84, batman_fan, mwotka and 3 others

He said that the editor at DC at the time (I think, one of the big wigs at least) considered More Fun his pet title, so they printed the bare minimum each month to break even. The number he quoted me was 10,000 issues. I would imagine there's at least some data out there on distribution or printing numbers that might be able to verify or disprove that. @scrooge? From what I've seen of circulation numbers I think 10k is too small. I can believe only 100k were produced as that would have still been well below the 300k+ I suspect were produced for the other titles. Whitney Ellsworth was the head editor of DC and most likely the only editor with sufficient clout to keep a title going. He also was responsible for the cover of the first issue. https://www.comics.org/issue/97/ sacentaur

The inside front cover has the December 1936 Detective 1 ad that was a tad optimistic as the book released in March 1937 or was purposely posted early to beat out the Detective Dan book(?). Another Dr Occult Superman tryout as well. sacentaur, Frisco Larson, lou_fine and 2 others

PreHero
MF is one of my favorite titles. Some really great cvrs posted. This title changed so much over time - from birth of an industry to the ever changing tastes in comics!
D84
I was looking to pickup another one of the Spectre cover issues, and was checking the census. Are they really that rare?
