Many people take things in private and do not want to post nor even confirm that they have purchased something.   When I do sell I go by timestamp.  Whoever takes it publicly or privately by my EST timestamp gets it.  If you cannot trust me to be honorable with a timestamp then you should not be doing business with me to begin with. 

Maybe some people don't want others to know what they're buying? Hidden shame in buying moderns, or porn, or whatever. But yes, allowing PM buys makes it unwieldly.

What is the problem? I randomly look at sales threads, are too many people trying to do auctions or grab bags? The scan requirement is sort of a PITA for 50 cent books though, no?

  Do you honestly have better things to do than scan pictures of fifty cent books? One needs get their priorities straight. I can't believe you would be happy selling a 50 cent book that had an undisclosed flaw on the back cover.

Scan front and back and a few interior pages to be able to determine page quality.

the only thing they notice is when a post gets reported.  Then, they roll a dice if it comes up even, poster gets a warning.  Odds, nothing.

I was going to make a sales thread once... I mean I would or would have and went to do it and there were already 1 to 2 cancelled threads with no reasoning....

Needless to say I've chickened out so far...
