The last Jedi had flaws aka Rose, Cantu Bight scene, and Lukes death but it wasn't a boring film.

But the old star wars movies are outdated and boring now.

If I wrote the story for the next stars wars movie I could do a better job than Ruin Johnson

I would actually have character development to were Kylo Ren redeems himself and comes back to the light and Han Solos and Lukes death are not im vain but they already killed snope so no main antagonist.  I would then make Rey turn to the dark side ( Rey being a mary sue and already defeating kylo ren in The Force Awakens it would be a somewhat Challange and interesting plot to see if Kylo Ren can defeat Rei) I dont see how Kylo Ren is a challange for Rey when she already beat him.

Anyway Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy ruined anychance to fix this mess but Rey going to the Dark Side being a unstoppable Mary Sue and Kylo redeeming him self and defeating Rey would work.  You need good character development snd writing in this 2 hr 40 final movie and no Rose in the movie. ANYWAY THIS WON'T HAPPEN IT WILL BE GENERIC MARY SUE REI WINNING AND KYLO STILL BEING A BRAT and have a final vader like moment at end of movie asking for forgiveness.

Wrong.

Wrong.

Highly doubt it.

So you want to flip-flop Rey and Kylo Ren? Do you think before you type? What's the point? What's the "development"? What's the character arc? I didn't think anyone could make up a story worse than Rian Johnson's, but you've managed to do so. Kudos.

Wrong. With JJ Abrams directing Episode IX - there is still hope.

Wrong. Rian Johnson ruined the opportunity for Snoke to be a "great villian" (whatever that is). Great villains aren't wasted in 'ah ha' moments. Great villains do something greatly villainous - which Snoke was unable to.

What, you didn't think Snoke was stylin' with his Liberace inspired wardrobe?  I was really hoping he'd break into Viva Las Vegas to interrupt one of his dull soliloquys.

I liked The Last Jedi quite a lot. (shrug) The casino sequence in the middle drags a bit, but otherwise I enjoyed it, and thought it had some beautifully composed scenes. Johnson definitely has a good eye for shot composition and color. No question this was the best looking, most visually striking of the new SW flicks.

The Force Awakens left me very "meh". I thought it did a good job of reestablishing the SW brand, by essentially remaking ANH and giving people "what they want". And I DID love the fact that they used so many practical fx, and got away from the CGI cartoons of Lucas' prequel abominations. But as a movie it's just sorta "eh", and I don't ever need to see it again.

And Solo was fine. There was no reason for it to exist, but if it had to exist, you could do worse. Can't imagine I'll ever watch it again, but I liked it better than TFA and the prequels, so that's something, I guess.

But the only "new" Star Wars film that I LOVE is Rogue One. It's the only SW flick since the original trilogy that feels like it deserves to be part of the series.

While I didn’t enjoy the film as you did, I did especially like many of the visuals and set pieces.

The “scene composition and color” you refer to is probably what keeps it from being ranked the worst SW movie in my opinion. That distinction still goes to TPM as that’s just bland all the way around for me. TLJ at least seams to have something artistically going on.

I was was thinking the other day about the divide between OT fans such as myself and the general audience who supported the film.

I won’t go into it as I don’t want to derail the thread any further with TLJ discussion. (Although it seems to be headed towards an eventual SW rage lock, lol)

As bad as the prequel films are, TPM gave us Darth Maul, an epic lightsabre fight, and "Duel of the Fates".  There are very few individual scenes in the entire franchise that are as good as that one.

Seems like a good thread for this. Could the human body withstand the g’s of accelerating to light speed?  Always wondered.

No, not even close.  If I recall correctly, as you accelerate faster and faster the objects flatten.  The force exerted on your chest would collapse your bones and crush your internal organs long before you got close to light speed.

Maybe if you're a mere mortal...

If someone hasn't seen it after more than a year, well... Save yourself and never watch it. Lucky duck.

The last Star Wars movie I watched was The Phantom Menace - at this point I'm too far behind to care about seeing any of them. Especially after reading what you all have to say about The Last Jedi.

You could always go for The Force Awakens. That might be my favorite of them all. Rogue One was also good. If you're into WWI/II-type stories then you might like it more (can't get attached to characters). Just full-stop after those.

Rogue One is one of the best Star Wars movies.  You should at least watch that.
