Book lays flat, solid & sturdy overall with a very decent spine...the tape seems to have been added just in that one spot as a preventative measure at some point long, long ago...it's flaking off of the cover pretty easily...pages are nice & supple, corners are pretty decent.

The piece out of the cover and the 1.5" tape with residue limit this book.  presents better than the grade

Yeah, that tape looks completely unnecessary, the spine looks pretty good. I'd say 3.5.

The bad thing about tape is that it leaves a nasty stain even after it's gone, but I still think this book could be a 4.5...
