Please Grade My Sandman #4 (possible 9.8) 0

Hey guys! I have finally obtained my copy of a good looking Sandman #4 (first appearance of Lucifer Morningstar). Let me know what grade it can get and why it gets that grade. Any chance of a 9.8? Looks like it might be!!! Anyways, I'll leave that opinion to you guys. Let me know. Thanks again for looking.

Really hard to tell from pics about a grade that high - especially with a cover that busy.  On that last pic of the back cover - a close up of the spine across from the 'M' (Dead Calm a really good movie BTW) is that a stress line?   For all I know that could be a hair. 

The last pic of the LLC on the front cover also looks like a small ding.  On that same pic ~2/3rds of the way up, is that another small crease?  Maybe it's just cover art or maybe I'm imagining things.

For those reasons I don't think it would get a 9.8, so I'll go a tick lower at 9.6

I was thinking the same thing, hard to tell on this cover.

I always treat the idea of a 9.8 as a gamble. Definitely a 9.4-9.6 though from what I can tell.

It might be a stress mark, but it is very small and I don't think it breaks colour. I'm pretty sure I needed to shine light on it at a certain angle to reveal it. I'll have to double check. As for the second problem, are you talking about the 8th picture? If so, that spine tick there is on every copy (even 9.8's). I think it is a production error (this book has a lot of those).

Because of the length of the spine tick, I'd say 9.2-9.4.

The spine tick on the front cover is a manufacturing error that every copy of Sandman #4 has. I've seen CGC graded 9.8's with that.

Nice looking copy but I think I see at least two spine tics. Tough book to grade.

The spine tick on the front cover seems like a manufacturing defect. Even 9.8s have that same defect. Thanks for the comment!

What happened to everyone scanning the front and back cover in its entirety?  These chopped pics make it harder!  I think you have a 9.2 there IMHO...

9.2? Where do you think the problems lie? This book does have a lot of manufacturing defects (Vertigo books from the 80s - 90s).
