You know what's a great feeling? Snagging a book off Ebay for super cheap and then finding out it's the highest grade on census by several points. Seems like most ignored this issue due to it being qualified (and the census status wasn't advertised, something you often find with CGC listings that are in the top three), but super happy as it means it was an awesome deal for me and made it my first Harvey comic purchase since 2012 :)  Wasn't really looking to get into this series, but the colors (and bonus white pages) just jumped out at me. I enjoy the unique perspective of the cover, playing off the 'hands-reaching-out' trope found on many other GA horror comics.

A story with this one.  I picked up a file copy many years ago (one of my first "romance" focused titles if I recall).  The cover grabbed me with such amazing colors.  I took it out of the bag to scan and read, and made a complete newbie mistake by not removing the tape from the bag.  Hence my first Golden Age tape pull right smack in the middle of the cover.  I've not been able to look at the book since it happened all those years ago...until now.  It still frustrates me that I was so careless.  Anyway, I was recently able to find another file copy in just about the same shape (prior to the tape pull).  So I'm now finally at peace with myself and have a beautiful First Romance #27 to share (and no tape anywhere near it!).

New copy first, and old copy with tape pull last:

They had the Antique Toy and Advertising show in Glendale today. I couldn't pass on a couple of these bright and beautiful Harvey Terry comics that were available for a bargain price. These are great readers. I really love the giant logo on these.

I read Terry #7 yesterday. All strip reprints except for the backup feature. If there was ever proof that these comics weren't just kids fare the story dealt with Terry's mentor Ryan falling in love with a married woman and trying to convince her to leave her husband for him. Her husband is an awful colonialist who abuses the locals and has Ryan put in jail on false charges. Great stuff!!
