Aren't there dozens of heat presses that sell on ebay each and every week? They used to list them showing T-shirts being pressed. Now they list them with comics pictured in the listings and language like, "Improve your comics".

Pressing comics is solely a for profit situation for CGC , you cant tell me that pressing is not noticeable.  Now CGC has a pressing service? C'mon!

Well, my point really was that there are a lot of people selling high grade books out there that have been pressed and a lot of those aren't in slabs. It's easy to say you only hunt for high grade "survivors", but I would posit that most would not be able to tell the difference if the presser has done a good job.

Those backyard pressers usually F them up.

As far as CGC not being able to tell with certainty on pressing. Why?

With a new revenue stream,  of course they cant tell.

question: if there was a way to make trimming undetectable, would CGC then consider it not restoration?

BOOM

We ( us board members) are pretty well versed in the comic book world.

What if there was a machine that could perfectly replace staples exactly as original-then would they not consider staple replacement restoration and offer that service?

Maybe you're more of an expert (shrug)

As I've stated earlier in the thread, all pressing is not created equally.

I never said pressing wasn't restoration.

But smoothing out a non color breaking fold is not the same thing as trimming or replacing staples.

And neither was pressing a book at one time.

Does look like a few books I've seen.

Yes, there are obvious examples and most of us who've been around long enough have seen our fair share of examples 2c
