But Marvel has already been bowing to political correctness since the first film.

To my knowledge, they've never used the name "Marvel Girl" in the films - instead referring to her simply as "Jean Grey" from the jump.

I believe Jean Grey never went back to the Marvel Girl name once she became Phoenix in the comics in the late 70’s. Probably in part because she was dead, but maybe also it’s a silly name. Also maybe because Ms Marvel was introduced. Both titles written by Chris Claremont btw who always strived for equity and fairness in his stories, including giving Carol Danvers a voice in Avengers Annual 10 after Marvel Comics allowed her to get date raped by Marcus, a Kang variant, and seemed to think there was nothing wrong with it.

2c but the BOM int'l # is wrong. $59M Italy? also implies it did $32M so far this week given that it was at $233M after Sunday.

Wow! It looks BOM caught the error now.

This movie has fallen to 6th place for Friday night.  Just wow.

Yeah - but Champions just squeaked by - Quantumania will likely finish # 5 for the weekend.

Still - tomorrow will be its last $1+ million day at the domestic box office and it will lose a *ton* of screens next weekend.

Yeah, but if you zoom out >$450 million worldwide is still solid for an Ant-Man film…

And it’s Fk’in *ridiculous* that we’ve gotten three Ant-Man films before one g-d d-n Flash movie.

Not when they spend 200M on it.

The Flash Gatsby Daily follies

(:

As the 31st MCU film in a massive franchise used to introduce the next Thanos - no. It's unfortunately not solid. Especially the launching pad for Phase V.

and only $100M more than Black Adam, now that's grim

Plus, with a total budget including marketing between $300 to $350 million, there is no way QM makes money.  Likely, that it will end up losing around $75 million.

I wonder is this movie now going to be a drag on Gaurdians 3?  With Gunn gone, QM, this groups last outing, and this films tentative connection to the main arc, this may end up underperforming.  I thought it had a shot at $1 billion, now thinking more $750 to $800 million.  Gaurdians will still be the biggest MCU film this year.

And at one point before Disney fired him. Gunn was becoming the MCU architect for Feige to help structure the go-forward franchise. Once they let him go and then later reinstated Gunn, Disney upset its own strategic planning where it seems like he never had that 100% trust again. But the Disney execs saw the money he could bring in with the GotG mini franchise.

Disney’s Marvel is trying to track down the identity of the person (or people) who allegedly released a 63-page transcript of dialogue from “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” online — one month before the film’s theatrical premiere.

A request filed Friday (March 10) on behalf of Marvel in federal district court in California asked the court to issue a subpoena to compel Reddit to identify the person or group responsible for sharing dialogue from “Quantumania” to the r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers subreddit “on or about” Jan. 20, 2023. The film, starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Jonathan Majors, opened wide in the U.S. on Feb. 17.
