Not comparable.

Because reported movie budgets are money the production *actually spent* (i.e., net of tax incentives).

The reason your insistence in reporting GotG Vol. 1's budget at $232.3M is wrong (and why literally every site other than that single Forbes article continues to report the budget of $170M) - is the studio only had to lay out $170M.

So it throws your entire chart off - because you don't add back in the tax breaks given to every other superhero movie production of the last 20+ years as well.

Again, movie budgets are reported *net of tax breaks* because they reflect money actually spent that needs to be recouped.

What a short memory. As we have had this discussion before. But oh well...

FORBES: Disney Reveals Financial Muscle Of 'Avengers: Infinity War'

Quote

Production for seven of the movies based on Marvel Comics superhero characters has taken place in Britain, and as the table below shows, the cost so far of Infinity War is surpassed only by the $495.2 million (£306.1 million) spent on its prequel, 2015 blockbuster Avengers: Age of Ultron. There is good reason Disney has thrown its weight behind it.

Because these labor budgets are reported on via the UK labor regulatory requirements, it is clear GotG Vol. 1 actually cost $275.6M before any tax incentive discounts. Leading to Disney's CEO having to note during an investors' call there was a much higher production budget that exceeded the studios' original planned $170M. And with some additional reductions it got it down to that later reported number.
